Just wondered really? Mine didn't, she said they are not allowed before 18wks now but 4 of my friends who've been similar times had theirs done? Why am I different?x

Mine didn't at 16 weeks, first time I nears it was at 25 week appointment! They didn't say they couldn't though!

No, mine didn't listen for heartbeat until 20 weeks, think different areas must have different ideas?!

Mine did but she said she didn't usually listen at 16wks because sometimes they can't find it and it makes mum worry. I think it depends on the area you live in and the actual midwife. Don't worry too much, it's probably down to the midwife and nothing to do with you in particular.

Yes - however she did give me a full disclaimer about sometimes not being able to find it so they don't usually do it till 20 weeks for the reasons Pinky gave above.

The look of her face when you found it straight away was a picture lol
xx

Odd isn't it? 2 of my friends are from the same area as me, not sure if same midwife tho?x

I've got my 16 week appointment on Wednesday ( although I'm now 17 weeks.. oops). I don't mind if she does or doesn't listen to the heartbeat as when i went to the hospital at 15 weeks we had a listen then. :) Although I did get a long story about not worrying if she couldn't find it as it's hard to pick it up at this early stage etc. As long as she doesn't weigh me at my 16 week appointment I will be happy! lol.

I am exactly the same, i never used to weigh myself. So got a shock at my first midwife appointment too! She didnt weigh me at 16 weeks, but i was secretly hoping she would coz i have lost 2kg somehow?? So now i keep weighing myself!

xxx

Nope, mine said they don't until 22 weeks as causes worry when they often can't find it.

Haha well she didn't weigh me at 16wk but I was puking in a bowl lol. She's asked me come bk on the 21st when I'll b almost 19wks & shell listen in then. She better not weigh me then as OH is coming! & even tho I must have lostbweight with being so ill I still don't want him to kno what I weigh lol x

mine did but only cause i went on and on and on and on and like the others she did explain we might not hear it but thank god we did straight away. x

Mine did... and they couldnt find it! its best to wait because I was scared out of my skin and asked to be seen immediately at the hospital when we saw babes was fine! he was on his tummy so they couldnt pick it up well x

Mine seemed to listen everytime I was there !!! I think it just depends on the midwife x

That totally wiped out of mind till she asked if I want to listen to heartbeat.. I said Yes please....took her good 20mins but I can hear baby kicking instead then she asked experienced one to have a go and finally find it..
