Did anyone see that young girls teeth on obem??

I think they are irresponsible, obviously don't have a secure living situation or a good support network, not judging - facts via info they gave on the programme. I spend a lot of time with parents in these situations and it is heartbreaking to see the living conditions, poor hygiene, lack of decent clothing for these little ones. I'm not saying she will be a "bad mother" per se, but, if they can't feed/wash/have somewhere secure to stay themselves, how will they cope with a little one? x

BTW her first words when the baby was born "it smells", and, "it has yellow nails because we both smoke". I couldn't afford to smoke, if they both gave up, could they afford a deposit on a flat maybe? x

I thought she said it smells and then thought oh I must have misheard, obviously not. What an immature thing to say about your baby x

I hope I'm wrong and they achieve financial security and a stable home life for that little one x

Probably not a good conversation to start - may start a row lol x

I think benefits in this country is such a touchy subject!
I think it's a good scheme and us paying our taxes help the hungry and needy - it kinda keeps ppl of the streets to a certain point and helps to care for any children conceived by mistake. As hey - ppl make mistakes so why should any newborns suffer from it.
I personally work and have a good job - OH has a fab job and is very well paid so I think for me to comment on somebody elses financial situation is wrong. HOWEVER I do believe that people on benefits who can work should be given an incentive to get a job. It seems the money does grow on trees from the government and they give it out Wayyyyyy to easy!

I completely agree, and I think a benefit system is essential, but I do think it should be a stop off on the way into work, not instead off. I got pregnant at 18, my boyfriend and I worked two jobs each, vie never claimed a penny. I don't agree with people claiming who have no intention of working x

I was best friends with a girl all through school - she left school and purposely got pregnant so she could get a council house - then got pregnant the second time so she got more benefits.....

As much as it annoys me that she did that - i dont blame her! I blame the government! No young person these days can afford to move out! Im 22 and have a good career as does my OH - I'm really lucky! But jeez when I see where my old school friends are these days - its a joke! They all are still stuck at home or in council houses with kids.. Nobody can afford to live much these days!

That is so true, if I left work I would bring home more money each month than I earn at the mo, but I'd be bored stiff though and morally it would feel like crap. I can totally see why people do though. I was lucky to buy my house age 20 (I'm now 32) but couldn't afford my own house if I were to try and but it today. It's madness x

I actually thought the dad seemed quite mature about it all, considering how some of the other dads have acted on there in the past i.e "eating fish and chips" he came across very sincere and I hope he is able to get a job and set up a stable home for his family.

I hope they can get themselves sorted out as they did seem like a nice couple, I'll admit they were both very reckless to land themselves in that position in the first place but they looked like they loved each other and were happy.

It did make me angry tho when they said look the baby has yellow fingernails, I am totally against women smoking when pregnant, I quit smoking before I even started TTC as I didnt want it to have any effect on my baby.

I also used to work with a guy who had no front teeth he was a lot older tho in his fourties, she must of stopped taking care of hers a long time ago for them to have got like that.

Her teeth were awful yes, and yes they smoked but none of us have any idea what her life has been like! We all judge - its human nature, and I was quite judgmental about her last night. But I've been thinking about it and what right do I have to make judgements on her? I have no right at all!!!!!
I can't stand the whole benefit debate either! I'm on benefits because I was ill for a long time, and couldn't do paid work but I've done A LOT of voluntary work! People may well judge me! Thankfully I am no longer considered to have a mental illness because I worked damn hard to sort my life out. I'm not trying to sound poor me but I had a very difficult upbringing in a religious cult, and have lived on my own since 16. And I'm so proud of what I've achieved because I could have ended up a lot worse than how that girl appears! We don't know anything about that girl, so why do we think its ok to judge?

hubby pointed out that teeth that bad can be a sign of serious drug abuse, who knows?

Yeah it was really sweet but really sad when the dad said that he whent hungry/only eat toast to make sure she ate. A lot of blokes wouldn't do that, obv we dont know if he's beeing honest but he seems like he's dedicated x

I seen her teeth too and couldn't believe she was just letting them hang out! I'm weird about teeth though, when my second teeth came down they were speckled, and you won't find a photo of me smiling with my teeth until I'm 17, and had veneers fitted.. The way they say if you are in a restaurant, the bathroom cleanliness usually tells how clean the kitchen is, that's how I feel about teeth.. They are kind of a window into someones personal hygiene.. Can you tell I'm a bit of a teeth freak

I really wish I hadn't read this thread now!!!! Makes me very sad and furious to see how judgemental some people are........remember not everyone has been lucky and had it easy in life!!!!!! :wall2:

The fact they were sofa surfing and had no fixed address would mean they would not get free dental care or benefits as you need a fixed abode for that. They obviously loved each other and as someone else said the dad was a lot more mature than some of the fathers that have been on the show.

Sofa surfing, basically just surfing with a sofa instead of a surfboard  jk, basically sleeping on peoples sofas, anyone who would have them x
