Got an appointment this morning. Hoping it's just the iron thing but I am a natural worrier so anything like this sets me off. Especially when the secretaries want to know the insides of a ducks arse when you call for appt but don't want to put you out of your misery when the gp calls you in! X

Thanks ladies. Back from the gp, my levels are so low that they wanted to refer me straight to hospital for blood transfusion. Bit scary! I've said that I am feeling ok but they want me to go back in a few weeks for more blood tests to check & if unimproved they will refer. I was told to rest. I'll be going back to work on Monday. I just hope they don't try to force me to start my mat leave early! X

Oh honey glad your ok, does sound scary. Take all advice and rest! Look after you and baby. I don't think they can make u start your mat leave for just a couple of days. Hope your feeling ok. Xx

Ok so just had a call from midwife. Apparently I have group b strep. Have to start taking anti biotics. Anyone know anything about it? I keep googling and am starting o worry x

Oh girls sorry some of you are having problems :(

Lucy - the only time they can force you to start your mat leave early is in the 4 weeks before you are due. If you are not feeling up to it then take a week off and rest.

Melissa - I have no idea about strep B, how was it diagnosed? I think it is undetected group strep B that can cause problems, so it is good they have caught it and treating you. x

My understanding is that you have to notify the labour ward immediately when you start labour or your waters break as they like to give antibiotics IV during labour. I think it's only undiagnosed group strep b that is a problem and the results can be devastating, but knowing about group strep b in advance and everything is hunky dory from there on in.

Sorry to hear you've both had rough days. Lucylastic - take the excuse to rest, see how you feel Monday. Your safe at the moment that they can't force you to start mat leave early. Melissa Sian - like the others have said strep b is a problem undetected, were you tested for it? It's not routinely tested for as it can come and go throughout pregnancy I believe.

how's everyone else doing? Tmi - is any one else having problems going to the loo for a no. 2? I'm not constipated in the fact I can't go it's just it's so difficult to pass it when I do need to go. Very painful :-(

xxx

Thanks everyone. It showed up in urine sample so they tested further and found the group b strep infection. I have to take a course of anti biotics now and then if I go into natural labour I think ( although I was totally taken aback when she rang so I want to talk I through with the conaultant when I see them in 3 weeks). Hoping for a planned section so hopefully will happen as planned and avoid some of the risks, although I don't really understand what they may be anyway. I'm googling away and just panicking myself. Need to stop and just talk to consiltant / midwife . I just feel tired, irritable and ready to burst into tears tonight. X x x

Becky - I am constipated, I was in so much pain with it on Sunday. It only started at 27 weeks, I guess it is only going to get worse? Apart from that I am feeling ok, not sleeping great though. x

I'm already constipated with terrible cramps. The iron is only going to exacerbate it! Been prescribed lactolose to try offset it a bit.

I was awake by 12 last night, my poor husband started work at 5 & had to deal with me bursting into tears because I had a headache & couldn't sleep!

At least they have detected the infection Melissa - forewarned is forearmed but sorry you have had a stressful day too. Try not to google to much. Its dangerous! xx

I tried to get pregnancy vitamins without iron but couldn't find any - need to eat more all bran I think :-/

I'm so tired today and can't face the thought of work tomorrow.

xx

I just had some weetabix and orange juice!
When do you finish work Becky? x

The things we do to poo lol!

My official date to finish is 11th Nov at 37 weeks, hoping I get an earlier date for my section, ideally 38 weeks and will move my finishing date at work forward. Last time I finished at 35 weeks, ended up with nearly 6 weeks off before DS arrive - I loved every second of it! xxx

I am finishing at 35 weeks. I work 40 hours a week in a busy dental practice, the place already stresses me out, so don't want to be there when I am heavily pregnant. I have 4 weeks of annual leave to use up also. Can't wait!! Will be lush having time off at xmas also.x

hi ladies how are you all feeling?
I finish work at 36 weeks lisa. I have a bit of a project on the go at the moment, its starting to ramp up so I always knew the last few weeks would be intense. I am hating the commute, even though its quite short (50 mins into central London) I can't believe the no of people who don't give you a seat!

I am no princess but its v heavy carrying this bump about!

On another note, has anyone thought of names? xx

I have woken up with a full on cold which is great when I'm on holiday from work. Hope if shifts quickly x
