Dating scan - when's the earliest?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum, and pregnant for the first time (I think about 7-8 weeks based on my last period). We'd like to have a proper dating scan as soon as possible because we went to New Zealand on holiday and in all the confusion over time changes etc. we have both forgotten the exact dates! We've managed to pin it down to sometime between the 25th and the 30th January as the first date of my last period. When's the earliest I can have a dating scan as we'd really like to know exactly how 'far gone' I am?

I had one at 6 weeks cuz they couldnt work out if i was 11 weeks or less, lol.
But it wasnt too accurate as baby is so small, but we did see a heartbeat and a little bean there. When we had our 12 week scan we found out that we were 13+ weeks.
8 weeks is probably fine, but if you go to your midwife with your dates etc then she may suggest one, or just book you in when you'll be around 12 weeks.

For most pregnancies its usually 12 weeks but if your really confused with your dates then talk to your midwife and she will decide if you need one earlier or not
