I came off the pill to start ttc in June, but at the start of June i was in so much pain i had to stay at the hospital for the night. they thought it was appendicitis but it was in fact a cyst on my right ovary!
it wasn't very big in the scan and they said they disappear themselves within 1-3 months.
its been over two months and i'm still in a lot of pain on my right ovary, and sometimes feel some pain in my left one now too :(
i went the doctors a couple weeks ago and they said my a letter to have a scan will take 6 weeks to come! thats ridiculous!

has anyone ever had a cyst on their ovary? what was it like for you? i'm starting to get scared but i dont know what to do about it

I have one but it needs removed surgically. They found it doing an ultrasound. I had to have a second scan 6 weeks after my first to see if it got smaller. Unfortunately it didn't change size at all. I'm on the waiting list for a laprascopy. They say most cyst do disappear on their own after a few cycles. Mine is a large cyst.

mine sounds different to yours but I'll share anyway. I had a private scan at 9 weeks with DD, they found a cyst, I can't remember the exact size but she said if it grew by 0.4cm by my 12 week scan they'd need to do something about it. by 12 weeks it had vanished

I had one - it seemed to be linked to hormonal imbalances. I had to have an ultrasound to check it wasn't dangerous. I lost a lot of weight and it started to shrink. I think it's gone now.

It didn't hurt except when it went.

Have you had a blood test? Do you have any other symptoms like bloating? I think they should do a blood test for c-proteins. Mine were high so they rushed me through to check for ovarian cancer. it turned out to be benign. It was all done and dusted in 4 weeks. While they were at it they had to do a uterine biopsy too.

Years ago I was rushed to hospital with suspected appendicitis which turned out to be a huge, melon sized, cyst on my right ovary. It grew very quickly in a short time and nearly killed me (it was twisting my Fallopian tube and the surgeon said another 6 hours and I'd have died). Please, please push to get scanned earlier than 6 weeks. Only a week before I had my op I'd had a specialist feel my tummy (I'd been having pains so had been referred), he couldn't feel this huge cyst, I was tiny and he felt nothing. Then after my op I had a letter from him with a scan booked for 4 weeks later... if I'd waited for this scan and not gone to A&E then I would have died. I cannot stress enough that you must push to get seen sooner. Go to A&E if necessary.
I had 2 huge cysts after that first one, my gp tried to tell me it was impossible for me to have more than one so wouldn't send me to have a scan so I self-referred. I was right and had another. Then a couple of years later had another. So don't let anyone tell you you won't have more either. Just trust your own instincts x

I have rang up the doctors today and have an appointment in 2 hours to see where to go from there, this week it's gradually becoming more painful day to day. I don't know if this is related to it because I've just started the combined pill finished my first packet yesterday, I've been having really light bleeding for the past week and it's not like red flresh blood, dark browny like when I have it at the end of my usual period

Some cysts bleed but it could be something else. So glad you are getting checked out! Let us know what happens. xx

I have blood like that with my first cyst too. How did the appt go today? X

Sorry for the late response! I've been incredibly tired and forgetful
The appointment did not go well, I feel like the doctor didn't care. Since this cyst I can't wee properly, it's either pressing on my bladder where I need to pee all the time even when there's barely anything, or I literally struggle to even push one out when I really need to go, if that makes sense. It's affecting a lot of things and I told the doctor all of this, like it's making sex really hurt as well, I can't work because of it (I work in a factory)

She basically gave me tramadol and told me to ring the hospital to see if I can push my scan forward. So I rang the hospital and they said the doctor shouldn't have said that they have to send a letter off to the hospital, I can't do anything. And the wait is 24 weeks!!! I've been waiting 4 weeks so far, it is ridiculous.

The tramadol is really affecting me too it makes me feel so loopy and really tired so I only take it at night, and I have to take two, and even that doesn't fullly stop the pain. And I can't take other pain killers because I'm on it, I usually take codein throughout the day. It gets worse week by week. I don't know what else I can do about it, it is definitely not going away, I constantly feel it it just feels so much bigger than when I first got it

Can you see a different doctor? I would keep pushing. Have they done any blood work?

that's not right, go back to your gp. have you looked at getting a private scan? I had some issues last year with irregular bleeding and thankfully I was scanned within 2 weeks but my oh and I had agreed if it had been a month or more I would have a private appointment. 20 weeks is a ridiculous time to wait

I had a blood test when I first went the hospital with suspected appendicitis back in June but they haven't done one since.

Does anyone know how much it costs to get one private?

No. That's good that they have tested. My blood test came back with elevated things suggesting cancer...which was terrifying. I was fine. At least they have ruled that out.

You could look up your local private hospital...they might have a list of prices. Or chat to them. It's odd that they are not investigating you not being able to pee normally. You definitely don't have a urinary infection?

That waiting list is ridiculous. I'd go to a different doctor. They normally scan you and then re scan again in a few weeks to see if the cyst goes away.

I've looked around the internet and I just can't afford to go private for scan, I'm lucky I still live with my mum so I don't have to worry too much about bills, it's just I can't work because of it I'm in a factory doing physically demanding work for 8 hours and I struggle anyway before this, and this tramadol is just not helping. I'm gonna completely stop taking it I've only had it since Thursday and I have this horrible ringing in my ears because of it so I hope that will go away.

I was tested for a urinary infection many times when I went to the hospital but haven't had one since, it doesn't hurt when I pee it's just pressure of my bladder I think from the cyst.

I'm just struggling to think of what to do I'm really anxious and the receptionist at the doctors is really intimidating, she makes me feel stupid and idiotic.

I'm going to start taking my codein in a couple days again to make sure tramadol is all out my system I just hope it helps in some way because it is so so painful and I can't sleep with it. I'm just so emotional right now I hate it

I hate it when receptionists are horrible...it's not what you need. it might be worth talking to another doctor at the same surgery and emphasising the pain. I'm so sorry you are going through this. xx

I suddently had a thought about your situation...Since you are now having trouble peeing you could ask your GP for an emergency referral to urology. Their main concern will probably be the risk to your urinary system and the risk of infections, including kidney. Onc you are on their books they will probably be able to push you through quicker. They won't want to wait 6 months with difficulty peeing.

Women's health is underfunded and a low priority but another department might be able to process you way quicker...
