I know i've got ages to be thinking about this but for the past few weeks it's all i've been thinking of! I've tried asking friends for advice but they either don't help or laugh... gggrrrr sooo i thought i'd ask you girls!

After having your babies, what do you think your do for contraception?

Before ttc little man, we were only using condoms but their a real passion killer so don't really want to use them again.

Before having Lacey, i was on Microgynon 30 but started to feel very ill everytime i took it and started being violently sick hours after taking it so ended up falling pregnant while on it.

After i had Lacey i then went onto cerazette but soon come back off it because i was bleeding for 3 weeks out of 4! Can't be doing with that!!!! That's when we decided not to use protection apart from condoms!

I was thinking about going on the injection but i've heard mixed things about it and the implant kinda freaks me out a little!

I also don't want to use anything that'll make me put on weight as ill have enough to lose with baby weight!

Anyone else recommend anything or has anyone started thinking ahead about contraception?!

Oh and i did tell OH to have the snip but he's too young :(

My friend used the contraceptive patch and it worked really well for her! She changed it every week for three weeks and then took it off for one. When I asked my doctor about it before, she told me to go on the pill as the patch can come off in the shower etc. But that never happened with my friend, never came off or anything.

I can't go on the pill either, because it makes me really sick and I passed out a few times while I was on it. So my contraceptive method will be NO SEX NO MEN. Hahah. I'm in a very anti-men place haha. The baby's father wants nothing to do with us and since him I've been single and not ready to mingle lol!

I've had some friends that tried the coil, but some of them complained with really bad pains and it can get infected and so on... so I wouldn't try that.

I'm considering the implant, that way I don't have to remember to take anything or go to doc appts to have injections. It annoys me that at the minute the only contraception options for men are condoms or the snip. I don't want OH to have the snip as I don't want to never have the chance to have more children iygwim?
I've heard mixed reviews of weight gain on all hormonal contraceptives but I never put weight on with my pill so i'm going to risk it. Everyone is different so one person could put on weight with implant or injection and someone else won't. Think it's hit and miss tbh x

The coil scares me too lol i heard stories about eptopic pregnancies with the coil. I did think of the patch but i was worried about it falling off!!
I like the no men no sex rule though... don't think OH would cope though! lol

I started thinking about this last night and decided I'd try the pill after a few months- haven't got on with it before but think I'll give it another go.

When i was on the pill i put on half a stone and could never lose it! My friend told me not to worry as ill have 2 children to run around after so should lose the weight. I'm going more towards the pill atm but ive had 2 bad experiences already with them! x x

I cant take to pill it makes me really unwell and I was advised by by my doctor not to have the injection as it woud be in my system til it runs out and there may be chance it makes me sick too I was on the implant after Mia for 3 years anf loved it but I fell pregnant on it this time and I just wont try the coil so im not too sure xx

It took me ages to find a pill that worked for me! I looked into the coil but it scares the bee jeezus outta me!

How did you find it when they put it in and took it out? My friend had it and told me it really hurts and nearly passed out!!
God what we gotta go through ey?!!! lol

Before i started ttc i had the contraceptive implant put in my arm it lasts for 3 years so you dont need to worry about taking a pill on time everyday, changing a patch every week or having an injection every 3 months i didnt put on weight with it (but it can be different in each person) i didnt have a period for about a year while on it which is normal but they returned after some deep tissue massages that i had and continued until i had it out.

i was taken off microgynon 30 as i suffering extremly bad headaches with it and the fact there was a family history of heart attacks and they said being on it could increase my chances of having one.

I only got my BFP today so ages to ago yet but once i have had my little one i will getting the implant again

I have been thinking about it for a while as well... Even picked up some leaflets from the surgery... I was on pills (Yasmin) before TTC but I don't know whether it was my mind playing tricks on me but I did start to eat a lot more and put on weight etc, I know lots of pills do that anyway... Definitely do not want a condom as you said it is such a passion killer and I just absolutely hate the idea of it! So the leaflet has got quite a few options in it... Not sure which one to go for though...

*The Intrauterine System - A small device which sits inside your womb, releasing a small amount of progestogen directly into the womb where it's needed. Will take about 5 mins to place an intrauterine system inside you, lasts 5 years and it can be removed any time and you could quickly be able to get pregnant again. Can be used at any age, more than 99% effective. Side effects:May notice light or irregular bleeding for the first 6 months or so, then it normally settles down and many women often benefit from periods which are lighter and shorter.

*The Intrauterine Copper Device - Also sits in your womb but does not rely on hormones. Several types which last between 3-10 years. They are made of plastic and copper and work mainly by preventing sperm from surviving and reaching an egg. Again, will take a few minutes to place inside the womb, can be removed at any time and can get pregnant again quickly afterwards should you want to. Can be used at any age, most of them are more than 99% effective. Side effects: Some women find their periods heavier and sometimes more painful with the intrauterine copper device.

*The Injection - Can get 2 types, both contain a form of progestogen. usually given into the muscle in your bottom, quickly administered by a doctor or a nurse and you will then need follow-up injections every 8-12 weeks. Can be used by most women but because of concerns of bone thinning you should take care if you are under 18 or over 45. More than 99% effective. Side effects: Some women may have irregular bleeding with the first one or 2 injections although more than half of women will find their periods stop completely with this method. Another possible side effect is putting on weight. It can take up to a year before you can become pregnant again.

*The Implant - Small, white, matchstick sized rod which contains progestogen. A nurse or doc will place it under the skin in your upper arm. usually takes a few minutes. Can be removed at any time and could quickly become pregnant again. Can be used at any age, more than 99% effective. Side effects: Some women notice irregular bleeding for a few months or longer. You should find this will settle and you may find it reduces heavy periods.

So yeah, there's quite a few options, found these in my information leaflet. They all have something good and not so good about them, I like the Intrauterine system because it will last a long time and periods might get lighter and shorter, the copper device is good because it does not rely on hormones but may make your periods heavier and more painful (don't want that!!!), I definitely like the sound of not having any periods anymore with the injection but then there's the possible weight gain :wall2: and the implant... Something under my skin, yukk.... So I don't know, am not being much help but I will choose one of these I guess... xx

I didnt find it sore at all getting it in cause they give you an injection to numb your arm and when I got it taken out they numbed my arm again, but they found it really hard to get it out after 25 mins the nurse got it out and my arm was a bit bruised the follwoing day but nothing to moan about xx

it does def but my friends sister got it in and she said it was so sore like a contraction and she now has had some really bad bleeding so needs to get it out, but I think that everyones bodies are diff xx

I agree, no crazy side effects, lasts for a long time... And I guess periods is just something us women have to get on with  x

Noooo :wall2: i'm gonna do Nat's idea... no sex! hehee

I was on yasmin pill a few years ago then got the implant, which was good and convenient but I put on 3 stone!! And I was 8 ston when I went on it and ended at 11! So ha it out and lost 2 stone so it was that. I think I'm going to go back on the pill. X

I know I really thought about it but she mentioned the word contraction and I was like eh No thanks, next please haha, really in all seriousness the no sex is the only 100% form of contraception though eh hahaha not sure if my OH would like that idea though lol xx

No sex - 100% effective, lol. Not sure about the mental side effects though

wow thats a fair bit of weight to put on isnt it!!! I never put any on at all xx
