Contraception question

Evening ladies,

I have a question regarding contraception. Now I am only 1 week postpartum so I am in no way ready to have sex with my husband yet! However, I do not want to find myself in a situation where I am caught out or we are ready and have to delay things.

I used to be on ovranette which is a combined pill. I am not breastfeeding due to other medications I am on which can be passed through the milk.

I have 3 months worth of these pills left over. Should I start them 21 days post birth or wait until I speak to my GP?

I have my final postnatal check up on Monday so I will ask them then. But if they tell me to wait until 6 week check, I will have missed my chance to get back on them as per advice I have read.

Has anyone else gone back on the pill 3 weeks post birth and had no problems?

Many thanks,

x

I got the implant fitted at 10 weeks. They always talk about contraception at 6 weeks if you want to start on it before bring it up.

Hi, that is good that you are thinking of contraception because if you had just given birth and breastfeeding you really is not safe.
