Hi all,
I'm new on here and like most people I think quite confused about what their
body is currently doing!

My last period was at the end of August and that wasn't much to write home about compared to the usual pain and heaviness. I had two negative home tests and so I went to the doctors and saw a number of unsympathetic male doctors who in not so many words told me to go home and realise that I was pregnant regardless of the fact that I pointed out I am on the pill and we still use condoms.

Since then I have still had no period - had loads of negative home tests and a negative blood test (finally saw a sympathetic female doctor). She has said that my progesterone levels on the blood test were at 750 (not sure what this is measured in) and that a non pregnant level would be less than 500 and pregnant would be more than 1000.

She's referring me to the hospital for an ultrasound to find out once and for all if there is a baby or not but that could take weeks to come through and in the mean time I'm just to sit and wait - oh and "not worry!".

I don't feel pregnant - but then as I've never been pregnant I wouldn't know what it's supposed to feel like.

My mum had negative tests when pregnant with my sister until she was 4 months gone and it was only when she miscarried my sister's twin that the doctors took her seriously.

Has anyone any advise or words of wisdom? xx
PS: Sorry for the long post....just easier to get it all of my chest at once....x

Maybe you're just like your mum.... How can they expect you to wait weeks to find out?!? They say they keep the last minute appointments for emergencies (suspect cancer etc) but you can do what I did and called through to the appoinments number for the Xray dept (or wherever they do scans at your hospital) and say that you are willing to accept last minute cancellation appointment..... you may be lucky and get a call sooner than you expect.

Welcome to the forum - you'll love it here everyone is so nice and friendly.

Thank you for the advice I'm going to try and call the hospital. I just hate the waiting and not knowing. Either way I'd just like to know what's happening!!

That's crazy for them to set up guidelines that have a great big grey area in the middle that no one knows what it means...

Sometimes i'm quite naughty with my advice, but i suggest you start faking terrible pain in your side like a stitch and go to the doctors again.

They'll probably assume it's an ectopic and push you right through for an ultrasound, but like i said it's naughty and you'll have to be convincing.

Thank you both for the advice - not sure that I can pull off pain - I was always a rubbish actress at school!

I have called the hospital and they say that even 'urgent' scans can take a few weeks so I've rung the local private hospital and have booked in for this Friday afternoon. It'll be the best £100 I've spent - just for the peace of mind!

aw so wrong you have to pay out for it! fx you get the news you want! x

If only I honestly knew what it was that I wanted!

Im sure whatever the outcome everything will be ok xxx good luck

Thank you all.....hope that you all get the positive results that you're looking for. x
