Confused about ovulation!!

Hi ladies!

Hope you're having a good Sunday! Ok, in on CD 10 and on CD 8 had cm, yesterday I had ewcm and today runny cm after the loo - sorry TMI!

I decided to buy a clear blue ovulation kit today, I tested earlier and it was negative! What does that mean in relation to cm?

I was convinced that I was ovulating!

If you had ewcm yesterday and not today and only tested today you could have ovd yesterday thats why you got a neg today. I would try buying Internet cheapies for next month and use from day after af until you ov so you have a more accurate idea of when it is. xxxxxxxxx

Thanks hon! So glad my OH and I had 'fun' Thursday and last night. Should we carry on trying from tonight or would it not make a difference now I've ovulated?

I always thought that when you got the EWCM it meant you would ovulate sometime within the following 48 hours...have I been wrong all along????

I thought ewcm was present at the time of ov? My ewcm seems quite short lived x

Yeah so does mine...well, I normally have it for a day or two...but I was sure that it was a sign that OV was due, not that you were actually OVing...I could be wrong, obviously, I just remember reading somewhere that it came BEFORE OV...

Yeah I agree Amy, it helps the sperm travel so would have to be there when ov is imminent at least xx

Mmm I had ewcm on Monday but got pos Opk thurs fri sat n Sunday (4days of pos Opk..... Bit odd tbh)

Thanks for your help ladies, I'm so grateful for your help! I've not had any cm really today but did an Ovu test anyway and was negative again! I may have ovulated on Saturday as that's when I had ewcm but didn't do Ovu test. I'm going to test each day this week just to make sure.

All of this is so confusing!

ewcm - stands for egg white cm right?

I read that when cm is most and clear like egg white is when you ov or just about to , when it turns creamy/ yellow it is post ov.

That's right (egg White cm) I'm learning the lingo too!

I've just been to the loo and have cm again but very runny, not sticky at all. I'm hoping I do have a positive Ovu test this week and I should do by day 18. I had a blood test on day 18 that detected ovulation had occurred but I didn't ask how recent my ovulation was. So in a nut shell, Saturday is day 18 so I'm hoping that I get a positive or that it happened on Saturday last week when I didn't do an Ovu test but had ewcm.

I've confused myself! Hope this makes sense!

I think the ovulation tests show that you are likely to ovulate in next 36 hours. So you could have a positive result on it before you see any EWCM, I'm guessing, and conversely a negative result while having EWCM.

EWCM could be present for a few days and ovulation should usually occur on the last day that you have EWCM. I'm guessing your body shuts up shop on the EWCM production front just before OV as it thinks the little people won't have enough time to make it to the egg from a certain point in time. Presumably we can still see/feel EWCM for a bit after the body stops producing it, it doesn't just vanish, and they can still swim through it while its there, even if no more is made. If only you could know that a specific day was the last day of EWCM before it happened, you could use that as a guide that in theory at least that would be the day you OV.

But like everything with TTC, its all if's but's and maybes, as every woman and indeed every cycle seems to work slightly diff. You think you kinda got what your body is doing, and then it all goes wonky. I guess that's why you need to treat it as a window of 4/5days, rather than trying to pin it down to a specific day?

I did the test an hour ago and I have a smiley face!!!

So my ewcm must tell me that I'm due to ovulate in a few days as I had ewcm on Saturday and have just ovulated.

Better get busy!!
