Clary sage oil anyone?!

I started feeling twinges after soaking for about twenty minutes. After one hour I had the stopwatch out and was panicking as they were agonising - far too strong and coming every three minutes..... I went to the hospital about an hour later to have a mw tell me I was not only zero cm dilated but my cervix was still hard as a rock. Baby wasm't ready but my body was trying to labour. I mentioned the clary sage and got a scowl and a 'dangerous stuff that' in response! I was sent home and had to grin and bear it for 12 more hours before the hospital finally let me in for some gas and air! :) longest night of my life. I had SPD too and was off work for tri three so have every sympathy hun xx

Edited to add: mw also said they do use cs in labour with homeopathic massage but only when in fully established labour to enhance contractions. But never before labour had begun etc. xx

I used clary sage oil last time and it never did anything for me. I still went two weeks Overdue and had to be induced.

Hell yes..... Couldn't move, talk or anything for the pain, uterus hard as a rock. It's all in my notes as having had a long latent labor phase (excess of 36 hours of regular, intense contractions) last time and upon admission I was admitted to delivery suite under consultant care (as it can cause baby distress) as a result. There they discovered reason for no dilation despite real contractions (as evidenced by trace) was LO was back to back so no pressure on the cervix. I was given hormone drip and an epidural and once I dilated enough they (consultants) manually tried to turn him. Didn't even buy me dinner first ;)

Of course, as I said before, I have no idea if CS actually did start the contractions, and the baby position did not help in terms of how bad the pain was, but either way, I am not risking it again xxx

I added about 10 drops to my bath water, I mixed a few drops into aqueous cream to rub onto bump and I added a few drops to my oil burner.

It smelt lovely, but just didn't start me off lol

Probably a good thing! You may have regretted it if baby isn't ready and all you got was painful contractions :(

Not sure exactly what method she used, but my friend used this (I'm sure she said she just gave it a few sniffs) and it worked almost instantly. Her water broke over the kitchen floor with quite a gush apparently and she went very quickly into painful contraction where she couldn't walk.
She must have been pretty ready for it to have such an effect I guess x

You can't force your body into labour, you'll go when your body & your baby is ready! I know your in pain- but focus on you've only got 9 days til your section now! X
