Hello ladies and mums to be !

I'm currently debating with the idea of getting a changing unit for the baby or not. Some people like my sister swear by it as it saves your back a lot of discomfort she's telling me and others say it's a waste of money .We have a chest of drawers a little low though and not sure it's going to be handy ,was thinking maybe getting one of those cot top changers if you know what I mean ? are they practical ?

I like the look of the top cot ones . Tbh I always changed Aoibheann on my knee or on her mat on the floor so I wouldnt have bothered getting one but I like the look of the units with all the drawers underneath for storage , my only problem with them is I'd never use them .

on my other 4 i didnt use 1 i just changed them on the mat on the floor but this time we have a dog and with the younger 1 i dont want no accidents as im changing on the floor so i have bought 1 this time i wouldnt say they are a waste of time but mine is going to be downstairs i think if i had to go upstairs for each nappy change i would end up not using it

We've bought a changing unit because I think we'll find it easier to be at standing height to get him changed/dressed etc. Like your sister says it saves her back alot of discomfort! lol

I got mine from ebay, have a look on there! x

thank you ladies,I'll have a look on ebay and gumtree..but like you midnight I can't see myself going to the baby room everytime a nappy needs changing ..maybe a few changing mats strategically placed in the house will do, lol

Hi I debated this one too! I was given the following advice - if it's your first baby and you want to lose weight then you could have one in the bedroom and make yourself go upstairs every time to change baby. Then you are getting exercise at the same time! If you already have children then you may not be able to leave them to go upstairs every time and may prefer a changing mat downstairs. In the end my debate was resolved because my friend gave me a second hand cot top changer which she didn't use and it's perfect because as others have said it is at a height that will stop me having to bend over and as I have fitted wardrobes I didn't really want a separate drawer/changer unit x

I used mine all the time and wasnt sure i would when i bought it. but i ended up with a c-section so it was a good job i had it, theres no way i could of been up and down to the floor changing Ethan, standing height was perfect. x

I bought a folding baby bath/nappy changing unit all in one thingy. It was great cos I have a bad back but then I took the changing matt section and it fit snugly on top of a chest of drawers already at the right height (without moving) so it was perfect! There is no way with my back I could bath a baby leaning over the bath so this was great for me. Only problem was I had to get my hubby to fill and empty it cos you still have to carry the damn thing from the bath to the folding legs! I dont think I got it new, sure someone gave it to me - cant remember!

ah my OH and I are debating the same thing. Admittedly, I am leaning to getting one. Though dont want to invest in a cot changing top/chest of draws. so looking at this one - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000HZ7ZL0?ie=UTF8&tag=babychangingtable-21

We can wheel it in the bathroom if we want. Also, under the table is a small bath for when the baby is very young - save the back ache I hope! Hope that helps

I like the look of them but unfortunately I just don't have the space as I am stuck in my 1 bed flat!! xx

i am looking at getting one. ikea do one for #£30 if you didnt want to spend out too much on one. also like claire said ebay have loads on there. xxx

The one I won on Ebay is a Mamas & Papas one worth £140 new and I won it for £40!! Defo have a look for a bargain! :) x

We have ordered one as part of our nursery furniture set, but its the chest of drawers and changer in one.
I knew I wanted one cus me and hubby have fragile backs so getting down to the floor isnt ideal lol

I learnt from friends babies that a changing unit was a lot easier :) and Im happy to go upstairs to change nappies as thats probably where the nappies will be anyway so Id have to go fetch one lol

Where did u order your nursery set from? I'm struggling to find the best deals xx

we ordered it at the baby show the other week from tutti bambini
Its this set
http://www.tuttibambini.co.uk/room-...ry-bundle-with-free-glider-chair-and-mattress

I felt like we looked everywhere at furniture but this set felt sturdy in real life and I thought the price was pretty good considering how much you get for it, and they deliver and assemble it in the price too (plus we got a bit more off at the show) :)

That is beautiful!!!

More than we could fit into our nursery but absolutely gorgeous!

I'll have a look through the site for a 3 piece as we need cot, drawers with changer on top and wardrobe.
Thanks Hun x

no problem hun :)

we decided to convert our spare room into the nursery so we have a fair bit of space :) figuired it would be worth it to have somewhere to keep everything lol

They do lots of different styles and I think they do 3 piece sets of most things too :)

Definitely! If u can fit it and make it look beautiful, why not! Xx

I've never had one but am def getting one this time. I'm going for one of the ones where you can ligt the changing surface off to reveal a built in bath with a drainage tube, you can wheel them into the bathroom after baby's bath and drain the water straight into sink.I foind bathtime to be a nightmare with my last 2 as have a bad back, so carrying a heavy water filled bath was painful! Also if you're bathing on the floor you need a lot of room to aprad things out..i think they're definitly a good investment :)
