i phoned up the registrars and they said this is not possible before the baby is 2 unless u get married(chloe has my surname and callum has darrens id rather they were the same) has anyone heard of this????

the rules are different in Scotland from England, but i still don't have a clue.

Rebecca has my name as her daddy's surname is Cockin! :rotfl:

your child can be known as anything you want. Just tell everywhere they are to be knownas such and such and htey are.

Yeah cos when my mum and ad split up, we were registered with my dads name as they were married, but when they split up we wer then known by my mums maiden surname, we changed it by deed poll outselves when we were older, but have always been known as Kerr.

we went to the solicitor to change my eldest boy's surname via deed poll.

the problem with not doing it legally is that it can be confusing.

ie my name is Davina Tara, but my nan hated the name Davina so i have always been known as Tara Davina, hence when i started work that was what my wage slips said, but when i started at the Met Police i had to have it the correct way round, now everyone at the NHS calls me Davina. but to everyone else i am Tara.

see confused, yep. contact a solicitor re changing by deed poll. if you earn below a certain amount, you get it done through legal aid and its free.

thanks girlies, looks like ill just wait till shes 2 and get it done by deed poll
