It doesnt make any difference what signs they have up in the shops etc about their policy the law is the law and they have to change it for you if it is unused and unfit for the purpose bought.
I was a manager for 4 years and we had a sign up saying they had 28 days to return a faulty item but the fact is they by law had 6 months and there was nothing we could do if they insisted.
