Hi girls,

Sorry if this is a really stupid question (it most probably is!) I know you’re supposed to cut right back on your caffeine once pregnant for obvious reasons. But do any of you know whether it’s advised to cut back when you’re TTC? I only ask as I’m a big coffee drinker and it just dawned on me today whether I should consider cutting back or not?

Absolutely it is. I think you can have 2 coffees a day. There is a limited recomended amount.

Apparently a recent study found 3 or more caffeinated drinks a day increases chances of miscarriage.
 
Yes I heard that it’s best to cut back. I allow myself one tea and coffee a day then I have decaf. However I have gone over this on stressful days at work lol xxx

Our fertility doctor said coffee is awful for conception so best to cut back xx
 
I’ve also heard that the chemicals used to make tea/coffee decaf also aren’t great, so it’s better to stick to naturally caffeine free drinks such as peppermint or chamomile... Not sure how much of an issue (if any) it’s likely to cause... I also read lots of conflicting advice on the best herbal/fruit teas to drink or avoid - it’s a minefield!
 
Oh thank you, Em. It really is a minefield isn’t it?! I’m going to make a conscious effort to drink more water and juice as, scarily, most of my drinks are caffeine based. X
