Im gonna be nosey now, how much is your buildings insurance and is it house or flat and how many bedrooms?

I ask because my OH is buying a 3bed flat thats been converted from a house and its a leasehold so the owner of the building gets the insurance n he recons and has sent the insurance to the solicitor saying its £350 just for my OH`s flat so that would be £700 for the whole building and that seems way too much to me! x

We have a three bed house, and it's £23 a month with unlimited accidental for building and contents x

and thats under £300 a year, so how is half a house more then a whole house. the landlord rents downstairs out so he has to pay that half so surely he`d want it cheaper. the solicitor said its right for the £350 each flat but i still dont work out how x

mines a 3 bed semi n £25 per month for buildings,

it depends on ur area too n the "at risk", i kno mines gone up coz a neighbour got burgled (i asked the insurer)

flats are allways more n specially in a converted from a house, (i used to work at an estate agents) i think its something to do with the fact if ur roof falls in or u flood the place it can effect the other flat more than it would nxt door if ur in a semi (hope this helps n makes sense with the baby brain!)

u cud try on a comparason website to check tho :-)

Thanks, Well turns out my OH cant explain things properly lol the solicitor said it seems alot for a flat but there still enquiring to the landlord about it. just so annoying as im due to leave my flat in 2weeks and im gonna have to move in with the in laws if my OH hasnt got the flat :( x

my OH has done a quote on a comparison site and found it for £200 for both buildings and contents but hes not allowed to get his own one the landlord gets it but hes with saga and just guessing that there expensive x

surly if he owns the flat he can get it insured by any company he wants, he owns the place??!:eh:

its a leased property so the landlord should insure the whole building as really he is renting the ground to us, but now after having the solicitor go thru the lease with him, he CAN get the property insured himself :D but the solicitor said this is not normal as usually he would get it x

sheesh, confusing or what,

well at least u have kinda got it sorted now,lol
