Hey Ladies!

I had Jack a week ago and had an episiotamy so i'm full of stitches. They told me to have plain baths and not to use showergel or anything down there.

Have any of you had an episiotamy? If so when did you start using bubble bath in the bath and using showergel down there? I'm not in any pain at all so i'm guessing it's ok? x

wow thats amazing that your pain is gone!! You must be pleased. I couldn't pee for around 7 weeks after my first. Anyway, i'm not 100% sure what you could use, maybe just stick to water til you see your mw/health visitor next time. You could always try using a tiny bit of sensitive shower gel and see how you get on?

Good luck

:)

I know its not the same but after my c-section they said I was safe to use soap etc on the scar a week later, still not brave enough to veet though!

I never got cut but they never said anything to me about plain baths but maybe its different if you get cut. I have had a salt bath to help my stitches heal. xxx

I first had a bubble bath on Saturday, I still just use water to wash. After I had a bubble bath I felt a bit irritated so I'm going to leave it another couple of weeks before using bubble bath again. X

Can't believe your not in pain. Mines is only just dying down. X

I had an episiotomy and haven't had any pain for about a week. I had 2 plain baths a day for about a week and half and now I have showers everyday. I have only just started using shower gel in the past few days though but have had no problems with it.

Thanks girls!

I know I can't believe it's not painful either! Sometimes I can feel a bit 'uncomfy' down there but not any pain. I'm so scared to have a look though. I think i'll wait another week, just in case and stick with showers in the meantime because I miss bubble baths lol x

loooool @ being too scared to look - i remember that feeling. I say go for it, have a nosey. Doesn't matter what it looks like, it feels better and thats the main thing!!

:oooo:

Ive not looked either and I had him almost 4 weeks ago. I had such a shit labour that I can't bare to hear what they did down there cos I had to go into theatre for it all. I felt down there one day and wanted to vomit haha. The less I know the better :) x

I'm the same Emma, didn't look at it before I had Jack so I doubt i'll ever look at it now lol x

I only looked at mine yestoday... mines healing fine, was scary though lol. xxx

arrghhh im a bit freaked out now, i've got all this to look forward to - again...I suppose thats what I get for snooping about in postnatal questions loool

:wall2:

No-one said anything to me about not using bubble bath etc.. I had a bubble bath the day I got home from the hospital (day after birth) and pretty much everyday since. Mine have healed fine and I had very little pain etc.. after the first week.

I'm the same, I've never been in Postnatal Questions - kinda wish I hadn't been so nosey now!

I would be missing my bubble baths too Claire!!

xxx

I might add - it depends how far up the cut is too, i was fine having baths ect but could not do a pee, cut was too far up to see.

My OH said it's at a slant almost down to my bum. He stood and watched the episiotomy, the forcep delivery, the placenta delivery and the sew up afterwards!! Brave man!! x

If you want a bath add 5-6 drops of lavender essential oil to a small (egg cup amount) of milk & add it to running water. The milk stops the oil floating on top of the water & have a soak & relax. The lavender does not sting & helps to speed up the healing process of cuts, tears, grazes etc.
I had an episiotomy with Joseph & ventouse delivery & had second degree tears this with Holly. Both times my stitches have snagged sometimes or been a bit tender & the lavender baths have really helped. I waited for around 2-3 weeks before using fragranced products last time & will probably do the same this time too. Aren't hubby's strange? Mine is really squeamish, but said he couldn't help but watch both times!!!!

I was so out of it I didn't even realise he was watching everything! He said it was amazing from start to finish but my blood loss was a little worrying lol. He had two friends at school who died through childbirth so he was realy nervous about my labour. He ate his way through it through nerves, the MW's thought it was hilarious because everytime he went out for some air and to send updates to family he came back with more snacks/drinks! lol x

Would they let u use baby products? Sounds silly but they are made to be mild and gentle for a babies skin maybe they could be used? Xx
