So yesterday at I'm guessing 11dpo I got a very faint positive on a pregnancy test. I know it was early to test and didn't plan on testing until Friday but I went for it anyway.

As it was faint we have decided to not get too excited until Friday when I test again hopefully with a clearer result (although obviously I'm starting to act pregnant with what I'm eating and drinking.)

However while at work this morning I have had some brown spotting - I had some at 5 dpo which I put down to implantation after getting the positive yesterday but now I'm concerned. I have been to the toilet since and it's stopped but I'm worried I'm going to start bleeding more.

Does this sound like it could be a chemical?

It could just be old blood left over from the 5dpo bleed!?
Although its quite hard to tell! Unfortunately its going to be one of them only time will tell situations, which absolutely suck!
But good luck to you xx

Hi Donna, sending hugs. Maybe it's left over blood. And I've heard spotting can be common around period time. Don't panic yet all sorts weird happens to body. It could be burrowing in more. XXX

Don't freak out unless it's heavy and/or bright red. Like Sarah said, brown spotting around the time your period is due is fairly common. Hopefully you've got a sticky baby x

Thank you all, trying not to panic but it's such a difficult time isn't it as I shouldn't really even know yet.

Although at least I know to start watching what I'm eating and drinking. I feel quite nauseous today too, probably a bit early to be a pregnancy symptom so might be to do with the bad news we've had too or maybe I'm coming down with something - fingers crossed now.

No more bleeding or spotting since this morning - so fingers crossed.

I had brown spotting that stopped like that just a few days after my BFP with my youngest. With my miscarriage, the brown spotting did not stop. It got gradually heavier and by the third day in the afternoon turned into heavy bleeding. I think if it's stopped, that's a very good sign.

Crossing my fingers for you and sending you good thoughts!

I had spotting when I got my bfp and worried about his but I’m 17 weeks pregnant now and spotting was just implantation. Good luck hope this is it for you xxx

Thank you both :) I'm staying positive - going to test again tomorrow and then hopefully I'll feel confident enough to move over into the pregnancy forums.

Congratulations on your pregnancies and Kholl - are you due in February as well then Kholl, EDD for me will be the 11th

Hi donna yes, I am due February 4, though I am counting from the first day of heavy bleeding from my miscarriage so that date may not be 100% accurate. I got a fairly strong BFP 27 days after heavy bleeding started though so I don’t think I could be more than a couple days off from that.
Hope that line is nice and strong tomorrow!

Thank you - hopefully I'll be joining you in there

I haven't had anymore spotting so fingers crossed. I'm just starting to question the first test now - so I do think it's the right time to test again tomorrow. We both saw the line so it was there but I couldn't get a picture on my phone and now I'm questioning whether it was there or whether it was a dodgy test.

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage too - but glad to hear you didn't have trouble conceiving after

So I've tested again and same result - I don't think it's any darker - husband says he thinks it is but then isn't sure if it's because he's looking for it.

It's a test from home bargains and I've just reread the instructions and it says not to read after 5 minutes and that it's not an early detection one. So two options;either I'm testing too early with the tests and they are positive or I've read the results after 5 minutes and it's a false positive.

I've tried to get a picture anyway I'll see if I can attach it and see what you think (it was very hard as the camera on my phone isn't great)

What do you think?

I can see that Donna. Has spotting stopped? Try get a frer today 2 pack from boots 10.99 with a £1 off voucher for next test inside.how many days to period are you now? X

Oh and btw I used them test countless time and never got a false positive after 5 mins. So I bet that's rare which would make me think it's correct X

I'll try and get out to get some more.

I keep looking at it which I know is silly as it's past the 5 minutes but it's definitely darker than Mondays - even when I looked at that after the 5 minutes.

I have an exam on Friday and need to prepare myself for that and also drop my son off at my mums so we're going to be fairly busy (trying to think where the closest boots is) as I will need to buy some more for Friday now anyway.

I'm not 100% sure when I'm due on as this month we decided not to track ovulation - we just bd'd loads. But based on symptoms I think I maybe ovulated two weeks ago this Friday - so should be due on Friday?

There's definitely a line there. Spotting in early pregnancy can be completely normal, I'm hoping this is the case for you. I know it's hard but try not to worry too much unless it gets heavier. x

That line is quite clear. If it's not an early result test it's not a bad line.

The spottings stopped so I think I might be safe to start getting excited now.
Going to buy more tests and do one either tomorrow or Friday though.

I'm happy it's stopped!

As has been pointed out, don't panic unless it resembles a period. A little spotting now and then is normal in early stages of pregnancy. As you said it could be residual or due to implantation.

Let us know how the retest goes! A Clear Blue digital is always good in these kind of situations, you'll at least know for sure that your levels are rising :)

Omg, Donna!! I see the line!! Keeping everything crossed its your BFP! Sorry to hear you've had some bad news. Hope you're ok. xx
