How long on average does your baby feed for?
How often?
And do you offer baby both sides?

Hey hon, how u doing? I'm feeding Elliot and I make sure he does at least 20 mins on the first breast and then offer him the next if he wants more....well that's if he doesn't doze off lol!!!

The longest he goes between feeds so far is about 3 hours but he can feed every hour for 2 or 3 hours on the trot. I'm feeding on demand so led by him. How does that compare to you?

George is feeding every 2-4 hours, so averages out at 3hrs between feeds. He tends to cluster feed and be a bit unsettled in the evening time.
He feeds for anywhere between 20-45mins , sometimes he really goes for it and glugs it back really fast and other times he's more relaxed/sleepy and it lasts for longer - always make sure he does 20mins minimum.
I offer him both sides during the feed - seems to reignite his hunger if I switch him to the other side and gets him feeding again rather than just sucking.

Oscar is 6 months now and he feeds for about 5 mins in one go and that's it! I only have ever fed from one side at a time too. Except for bed time when all he wants is left bitty. Of I try him on the right I end up swapping. Weird I know lol.
When he was smaller he could feed anywhere from 10 mins to 40 mins but a lot of that could have been comfort sucking.
Oscar sleeps in our bed and seems to be stuck to boob all night. I have really let him get away with all sorts. I think I'm a dummy In more ways that one!!

Lizzie hasn't got into any routine yet and it seems to change every day but at the moment she's feeding every 2 hours through the night, for about 10 minutes on each side, usually with nappy change in between. In the daytime she likes to sleep and so she can go for 4-5 hrs between feeds and then feed for up to an hour with lots of little gaps in between.

The midwife advised us to try and 'make' her feed every 3 hours but waking her up for feeds made her too frustrated to latch on so we gave up on that and are feeding on demand.
Just realised I wrote that last sentence using 'us' and 'we'...obviously just me though

Evelyn can feed every hour, sometimes less! Although she sleeps right through so cant complain! She lasts longer if we're out and about x

I know it's early days for me! But Eva feeds for abt 10 mins on one boob every 2-3 hrs in the day and in the evenings feeds for a bit longer 20 mins or so and wakes once in the night for a feed and sleeps 4-5 hrs till abt 9am. This morningi woke up with a rock hard left boob - fed eva for 30 mins!

i only offer one boob per feed, heard that if you swap between them, baby gets more fore milk than hind milk which can make them a bit sicky, and also means they dont get the thicker more fillinng milk that keeps them ssatisfied.

dont know if tehres any truth in it, but yeah, one boob per feed, swap for each feed session.

I'm trying to do this too but not sure if we gave reached the hind milk yet...how thick is it - as thick as the colustrum stuff? I just seem to gave loads of watery milk.

Not a clue, im not expressing anymore so havent seen it LOL supposedly it takes 10 minutes to get through to the hindmilk (read somewhere.. will find the link again and share when i get it)

I let him feed til he comes off on his own but inthe last week he is going 4-5 hours bwtween feeds and at nighthe has last feed bout 11 and wakes about 6 so he goes even longer im trying to use the babycare app on my phone to see if he has a pattern

Yes to be honest he slept through in the first week at home so we are pretty lucky but still have the odd night where he wants to stay up all night and look at mummy and daddy and refuses to go to bed. We used to struggle putting him down at night so bought the twinkle twinkle little scout and it works a treat but think alex is like me once his head is down he sleeps and sleeps x

noa feeds every 2 - 4 hours, he now empty an boob in about 15 min i offer him the other one if he dont seem happy with one.. when hes tired tho he dont eat that fast. he sleeps for about 4-7 hours at night before he wakes up for his first feed.

Thanks for that Kat - very useful. I'll stick to the trying to feed on one side till it's empty! I asked the midwife today about the difference between fore and hind milk and she said it's quite difficult to tell them apart.

I'm desperately trying to flip Blake's body clock. He'll easily sleep 6 hours in one go during the day and be completely alert and awake all night.

I know it is mad we think it has been because we have been out with him and kept him awake most of time he feeds about 7 has a nappy change just before he feeds then i dress him and he is awake for a couple of hours where he plays with his gym usualy wants another feed then sleeps for a coupleof hours then we start over! Have the odd night where he wakes at 3 for a feedbut its normally cos hes bewn in the pram during the day and slept
