I'm going to breast feed hopefully... But I'm worrying as my boobs aren't doing anything and im only 4 days away from due date.

They are not leaking, they are not sore and the only thing they do sometimes is if I stinulate them (trying to bring on labour) little bits of yellow crust come off, just tiny bits!

Does this mean my boobs aren't producing milk??

xxx

You won't produce any milk until 3-5 days after baby is born :-) sounds like colostrum which is a clear liquid, it's amazing stuff and all your baby needs, it's absolutely packed with nutrients. Don't be alarmed if it doesn't seem like there's very much. Your baby's stomach is so tiny that they hardly take any during feeds, and it's easily digested so baby will need to feed often. The best thing you can do is feed, feed, feed, get your latch checked as many times as you can, and feed some more. Good luck :) x

The little bits of yellow crust would suggest to me that you are actually leaking little bits of colostrum, even if you don't notice it.

I never did get to grips with feeding my first... Just too damn painful.

I really wanted to try feeding DD, but was worried I just wouldn't produce enough milk. I had the odd bead of colostrum after a hot bath, and that was that. No tingling, no swelling, no nothing.

Six weeks on and DD is soley breastfed.

Don't let it worry you hon. The hormones released in labour will kick-start production xx

Your milk only comes in after birth; what happens before then is irrelevant; some women leak colostrum beforehand, some don't, but it has no bearing on your ability to feed or not, so don't worry a jot xx

Oh that's reasurring... I've read about peoples boobs leaking and thought why are mine not! I need to be more patient xxx

My boobs are leaking colostrum - but yes your milk takes a few days to come in - and when it does boy you'll know about it

I was the same last time; it really panicked me as my friend had started leaking at about week 35. Then about day four after I gave birth I woke up and my boobs were bigger than Gibraltar. Hubby nicknamed me 'the garden sprinkler' for weeks as I just leaked constantly..... very very messy!!

I think your body remembers though as this time round, I've been leaking since about 32 weeks so next time you may find it's totally different! xxx

The garden sprinkler lol... Sounds glamorous louise haha xxx

My boobs aren't leaking i get a tiny little bit of crust. I breastfed my daughter until she was 13 months. Omg if I didn't empty them they would leak all over. But I never even got the porn star boobs I thought I would of :(

Even my husband said to me last night, everything gets bigger apart from your boobs xx

Don't worry Colleen - by day three onwards your start sporting a fine pair of madona cone style boobs which after a few days of feeding will be squirting everywhere in the shower, soaking you and boob pads when your baby crys or coos! It's so clever what the body does x

Hi hun, I was exactly the same just tiny bits of yellow crust and thought the same as you. I'm breastfeeding though and my milk has come in as normal so don't worry. I couldn't see any colostrum or milk the first day or 2 of feeding and wondered if anything was actually coming out but it definitely is. My boobs drip milk sometimes now! xx

Mine didn't come in until after baby was born, perfectly normal hun x

The worst I found was when baby was feeding off one boob, and the other was just pouring like a tap! Especially during night feeds when you can get a bit engorged but in a sleep deprived state you have no idea what to do to try and stop/catch the excess milk! In the end I just had to use a clean towel each night to catch and mop up the 'dribble'. Eugh, God, I'd forgotten all about this until now!! Would love to know what others did to manage this (if it happened to them too?!)......

You'll be absolutely fine.
I've breastfed 4 all till almost 1 year old.
My boobs never did anything before I delivered and I've never ever leaked or beaded breastpads, all of my babies thrived and gained loads of weight through me feeding them x

I would be thankful you're not leaking now hun! I leaked from 16 weeks with ds, I would wake up drenched and I had horrendous oversupply. Feeding was agony, my poor nips were raw from the amount coming out of them! My milk didn't come in for 5 days after givimg birth either!

Crusty bits are completely normal hun, as the others have said don't worry :)
