I have my first appointment with the midwife tomorrow, I am excited but nervous about it. I just think I am going to forget to mention important stuff and not really sure what to expect. I really hope I get a scan date tomorrow as I am so paranoid at the mo and really need assurance.

I am thinking I am going to have a horrible midwife who I going to moan at me for being overweight, any one had any experience on this front?

My OH is coming with me because he has a half day at work tomorrow, is this weird or should I go alone?

My OH is coming to everything with me, its nice to have them involved as much as possible, maybe he'll remember stuff and ask questions too! I'm sure (hoping) that the midwife will ask all the improtant questions, and ones you don't think are important. Hope you get your scan date, I have to do the whole lot in one meeting as they've changed the system in wales so won't see a midwife til 12 weeks :s. Enjoy it :)

So I have been to see my midwife and she was lovely. She has sent off all the info for my 12 scan and I'm am having the nuchal test at the same time. I told her about the bleeding I have been getting and is referring me to the epu and wants me to get a scan done. I should hear from them on Monday, a bit nervous but excited that I will get 2 scan instead of one!! Just scared incase it's bad news, I know thinkingthat is isn't good for me or baby but I can't help it. I just hope I don't have to wait to long!! Xx

Scans are always a mixture of emotions but they are really amazing! Glad mw was good :) x

Omg. I told my OH he didn't have to come to 1st one cos I presumed it would be all paperwork. Wot if she does that doppler heartbeat thing and he misses it.
I have another 10 days to wait for mine. How that will drag.

I don't think they do the Doppler at 12 weeks as it's too early but they may show u heartbeat on scan! My midwife didn't do Doppler on me until 16 + weeks but could be diff in diff places xx

My mw told me that dopplers don't really pick up much til after 12 weeks. The first appointment is pretty much all paperwork x

My OH didnt come in the end, he got out of work late. He would have been bored any way. As long as u know some basic family history on his side then he isn't needed. She didn't try to listen to the heartbeat, and she couldn't do my bloods stupid veins! At least she didn't use me as a pin cushion she just didn't try as she could feel any :-s

I'm not letting my OH get away with not coming. If I've got to sit through boring appointments, he can keep me company! I'm doing the bulk of this anyway, its the least he can do hehehe! I'm sure there are plenty in the future he won't need to be at.

My OH didn't come to mw but he comes to the scans! We have a home doppler so he can hear the heartbeat

Glad the MW was nice, I had exactly the same concerns for the same reasons. However my midwife was lovely too except I got to see a stand in because the regular one was on holiday.

DH didn't come to the appointment which was a probably a good thing because the room at my surgery wasn't very big. He's gonna come to the scans though. He loved the early private scan we had at 8 weeks, the top of his head nearly fell off his grin was that wide.

glad ur midwife was nice :) hope u get ur scan soon to put ur mind @ ease xx

My OH isn't getting away with not coming to the scans, I don't think I could cope going on my own especially if it is bad news. I well drag him out of work if they don't let him go with him, it won't be him not wanting to come!! Just his work is a pain in the arse.

I think if I haven't heard from the epu by lunchtime I think I will phone them myself to help with this paranoia! Especially as I have had some more spotting this weekend xx
