Hi, I'm now into my 10th cycle, first time ttc. Just want to know if anybody has gone on holiday abroad while pregnant and was it worth it??
We're thinking of booking a holiday in September but I'm scared to just in case I'm pregnant. I've read that it's fine to travel but I'd be concerned if I was having any problems or feeling sick etc and being in another country. But then at the same time, I don't want to put my life on hold until I get pregnant!
Also, I don't want to book last minute as I'm fussy when it comes to hotels so don't want just the leftovers lol x

Hi. 2 years ago when ttc we booked a holiday and I found out I was pregnant 5 days before we went! Typically was all inclusive too and was with my folks so I told them I was pregnant when we got there otherwise they'd wonder why I wasn't drinking! Anyway story short it was fine!
We have just started ttc again and are looking to book a holiday September too and if I'm pregnant I'm hoping I keep as well as last time! Like you say no point putting life on hold x

I'd go for it as you don't know when you'll fall. But make sure you've got good travel insurance just in case. I've had HG again this pregnancy and been unable to leave the house for 5 weeks due to sickness. I had to cancel flights to a wedding and a break abroad X

I found out I was pregnant the day before I went skiing! I still carried on, was feeling fine, but bloated up and couldn't fit in my ski trousers by the end of the week!

I cancelled a trip to Spain in 2 weeks - but only as I am high risk due to previous pre eclampsia, and I would be a week into needing a fit to fly certifucate. My prob is I also am terrified of flying, needed Valium to go on my honeymoon, so I said I would try not to fly whilst pregnant - that's just me though!
I would say don't put your life on hold, relax and enjoy yourself and carry on as normal.
My travel insurance were great when I cancelled my Spain holiday - they just put the money straight back into my account!
X

We booked a holiday to Cape Verde in October that we can no longer go on due to the Zika virus. We haven't decided yet whether to cancel it or rearrange to somewhere where there isn't a risk. I booked this after ttc for 5 months, we'd decided to hold off ttc for a few months as I'd just got a new job so I wanted to settle in there. We DTD once last month, bam, I'm pregnant, no maternity pay, no holiday (gutted as I haven't had a beach holiday in 7 years). You just can't plan for these things, you have to just carry on living and what will be, will be! I couldn't be happier, ok the timing wasn't perfect but hey ho!

Thanks for the replies :) could anybody recommend a good travel insurance then? I usually just go with one of the cheapest but better not this time (if we do book it... still undecided!) as I want to be able to cancel it if I have to!

I agree with the others book the holiday and get good travel insurance. If you fall pregnant I'm sure everything will be fine and you'll enjoy your holiday and if you haven't caught pregnant yet you won't be sat at home wishing you'd booked the holiday. September isn't too far away so at least you wouldn't be massively heavily pregnant

I came off the pill in jaunary and thought the same what if we fall by our holiday. we came back Saturday and had a fab time . we haven't fell yet and I really enjoyed the holiday. it was needed x

I think to a certain degree life has to continue as normal as possible when TTC. If it was me I'd be booking the holiday and worry about being pregnant if and when that happens!! You would kick yourself I'm sure if you didn't book the holiday and also didn't catch. At least this way you've still got the holiday to look forward to and enjoy. I used to think about those things myself but now that TTC has taken longer than we hoped, I've realised that I need to carry on as normal as much as possible.

Good luck with everything.

I don't think I need much more convincing now... sunshine here I come :)

I am in Gran Canaria right now and am about 8 weeks pregnant! Thankfully I have no major symtoms but I am so glad I came because I have been able to relax and rest plenty more than I would if I were at home! Book it anyway as it could be a babymoon for you and DH and much needed time together before baby comes.xx

I booked a holiday and caught pregnant on the first cycle so ended up going at 5 weeks to Dubai! It wasn't ideal...

But then again, you can't put your life on hold x

I just went to Spain when I was 15/16 weeks and I was fine so I would say go for it.x
