Black blood???

I'm on BC pill, and my period was a day late, which is really unusual for me, and when I checked the blood was black like tar???

I've had a few bits of red but it's still been quite black throughout the day!

I've got a drs app booked in a few weeks, but just wondered if anyone else had had black blood?

It sounds to me like 'old' blood, not fresh blood. I've had this a few times at the start or end of a period, especially when I had my coil, really thick and very dark. Have you tested? I know you said you're on a BC pill but if it's not a normal period for you it might just be worth testing.

Thanks for your reply, I tested yesterday and bfn, it was only an cheapy one though!
Hopefully drs can shed some light!

Think I'm going to test again Monday, it's been lighter than usual and now it's stopped after a day!
