My waters broke at 2:30am the 11th of September. I went in to get checked over and had no contractions. I was worried I might have to be induced. They advised that if I didn't go in to natural labour by 8pm then I would have to be induced.

I went into labour at 8am and my contractions got so strong by 10:30am I went into the ward. I was 5cm dilated and by 3pm I was 8cm dilated. At first I felt fine and the midwife slyly said do you want codeine so I took it and I am so glad I did. 8cm I needed pathedine but took a very small dose so baby would not be affected.

At 4:20pm I gave birth to little Cody without screaming, yelling obscenities. The one that kept me going through the pain was probably that 7 billion people have been born, it can't really be that bad. Apparently I was the most mobile lady they've had because I watned to kneel stand, squat sit which they reckoned he;ped me have a smooth quick birth.

Cody Joshua Lincoln Heidtmann was born at 4:20pm with no complications but a tiny baby at 6lbs. MY vests for newborn, 0-3, 3-6 months were not the correct prepation I guess because we needed to go out and get the tiny baby clothes :). In the end I have a beautiful relaxed son that for the last 12 hours seems to only cry when he needs a change YAY!
