Good morning, hope everyone has had a nice weekend.

I spent the day on the antenatal ward yesterday. I've been a bit itchy for a couple of weeks, which I put down to the heat to be honest. It had got worse over the weekend though so we thought I should just phone for advice. I had a load of bloods taken and I have obstetric cholestasis :( . I'm absolutely petrified. I've got some drugs to take to help with the bile salt levels, vitamin k to help prevent bleeding, antihistamines and iron as i'm also anaemic. I've been pencilled in to be induced on Monday, though they couldn't confirm it as the system was down. I'm back in tomorrow for more bloods, a scan and to moniter lo so they'll confirm it then.
I can't stop thinking about the risks of stillbirth :( The consultant told me that's really just an issue if I go beyond term so they're starting me off at 38 +2 which he assured me is fine. I'm so scared though, I just want my little fella out and safe :(

Oh hun, sorry to hear you're having to face this. I'm sure they will do everything to make sure LO gets here safe n sound xxxx

So sorry you're suffering hun. You and lo are in safe hands :hugs: x

Thank you. I do feel in good hands, it's a wonderful maternity department. I just want it all over now so I know he's safe xx

Sorry you're having problems, Try not to worry to much x

Using tapatalk so excuse the typos!

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis but good luck for your induction :) x

Oh gosh that doesn't sound nice. Roll on Monday when you can hold lite one and know he's safe xxx

Good luck for Monday if they do fit you in. I can understand you would be worried :( here's to a safe delivery and you to make a speedy recovery xx

So sorry to hear this, but at least it was caught at this stage. Good luck for Monday - hope it goes quickly for you!

Sorry your going through this hub. Sounds scary! At least you get to meet your little one soon. Sure it will work out ok. Try not to worry too much.

Thanks everyone. I'm a bit worried about being induced so early in case my body isn't ready and it takes days! The consultant thinks it should be straightforward since i've done it before though. I just want my little man out and safe, that's why I asked them to do it sooner rather than later. I'm very much looking forward to meeting him, as well as feeling scared, I'm very excited that I'll be holding him very soon!

How scary, but sounds like the docs are on the ball. Hope u do get ur induction on Monday and yay to getting to meet ur lil man soon xx

hi hun i got diagnoised with this over a month ago, they put me on urso tablets im taking 900mg aday, i was rele scared to start with, im being induced on the 19th june ill be 37+5, lil one is safe to come out they r classed as full term at 37 weeks, im sure everything will b ok, the tablets take 2 weeks to kick in, i was worried about taking them bec they r unlicencec but they brought my levels down from 79 to 55 the 29 now im at 6 which is normal so they def work, just keep a eye on lil ones movement and if bubba dnt move as much get checkd out, if u want to know any more just ask xxx

Well i'm all booked in for Monday! The only shame is that i'm under consultant care so I won't be able to use the midwife-led unit with birthing pools etc. It sounds silly but I don't know quite what to do for pain relief! When I found out he'd finally turned, I had my heart set on labouring in the water again. I guess I'll just have to see how it goes.

Mel, I'm on 500mg of the urso tablets plus the vitamin k. I had a scan today but no more bloods so I don't know if they're working or not yet. They're happy with the blood flow through his umbilical cord and his heart rate so that's good. I'm back in on Saturday for more monitoring. Over the weekend the consultant told me that had it started earlier they'd have me in every week for bloods, but since i'm so close now they'll just induce me. Has your itching stopped now? xx

hiya you can still have a water birth hun i got told today i can have one still, im having gas n air for pain relief and if i need more ill have the pefidine injection ive refused to have epidural, yh the itching isnt as bad as it was i still wake up loads during nite itching, how is ur itching? xx

Glad that you have a date set. I will be thinking of you on Monday, thankfully LO is fully cooked, I am sure you will be fine, you are in
Safe hands x

Good luck for Monday hun :) Sorry you're going through this, at least you get to meet your LO early :) Sounds like they know what they're doing x x
