I am in the same situation! 3 parties in the next 2 weeks! I have been really ill with ohss and only my boss knows I have been though IVF and colleagues think I had some health issues so will try to say I cant drink since on medication or something..
It would not be that hard if I never was a party girl but I am! I always stayed out the longest so saying I don't feel like drinking won't do
Apple juice and lemonade in a wine glass if u get the balance right looks like white spritzer or when your husband or a friend who knows has finished a bottle of beer feel it with water. Xx
You could say u had to drive somewhere early the next day. Or you have an infection and need antibiotics though that won't last you all month... Or u could say you got really drunk the night before xxx
Say you're on antibiotics for a tooth infection. Those are the ones that make you violently sick if you drink any alcohol. Also if you have an infection you're going to be feeling grotty!
I'm just going to drive everywhere lol then I have an excuse. Christmas Day may be more tricky as we'll be at my dad's and oh doesn't drink. We're thinking of having a private scan just before Christmas, so might tell them then if all ok! X
I don't drink anyway so it wasn't an issue for me.
I wouldn't think anything of it if a regular party girl stopped drinking and said it was because of antibiotics. That could cover you for up to two weeks.
People will be paying less attention to your drinks than you think. Have some fun with trickery, order drinks that will look like alcohol. Something like j20 and ask the bartender to serve it like a cocktail.
So glad for this thread. I am a bit of a Party person so need a solid excuse. Problem is I've already had a night out with work whilst being preg two weeks ago so I had the excuse that night that I was up early the next day. Not sure driving for the second night out will wash! I actually have my scan the day before my xmas night out so did consider just telling work but my work is pretty big so there's no way I can tell everyone in one day and don't fancy announcing it to half the folk at the night out!! Also I don't think I will be quite 12 weeks at the scan (think I will be 11+3) so was going to wait a bit before telling everyone.
I'm actually thinking of not going as I think it'll be easier than lying. Problem is I'd need a solid reason to not go and tell work soon (was thinking friends 30th)! Any suggestions??
drink tonic water with a lime (gin and tonic fake) or Appletise/Coke/Lemonade (vodka mixer fake)
I've confessed to a colleague who kindly publicly designated me as designated driver because I "never drive!" so I have a decent excuse. The only problem is that I'll have to stay as late as they want... if I don't fall asleep on the table!
Glad to see there's a few of us in this boat. I organised our works Christmas party. I'm always the last one standing & always the one swigging back the vino.
I've figured my excuse is going to be in driving because after just buying a house funds are tight & I don't want to pay out for rubbish taxis.
I went to a party last night but it was at a friend's house so I took my own 'wine' ie I poured alcohol-free wine from Asda into an Echo Falls bottle and no-one could tell. More difficult in a pub or restaurant though. I often drink cider and Kopperburg do an alc. free version that a lot of pubs sell so that might be my saviour!
I was at the first of my christmas parties last night and I just used the excuse that I was skint from buying my christmas presents and I'm rubbish at lying. The secret nearly came out to one of my friends but she was too drunk by then pheww
I had my Xmas meal & drinking session yesterday too. Mine was an afternoon thing but continues into the evening. I just said I was already out in the evening with friends and will need to drive ... don't think anyone thought anything of it! xxx
