I was just reading about this through some sites I found, and was just wondering what everyone thought about being pregnant and still going to bars and/or clubs?
I'm 19 and love a good old night out, and haven't stopped since I've been pregnant. I have just set more boundaries for myself, such as no going out with anyone for a fag (I don't smoke, but I often chatted with my boyfriend or friends when they went for one) no staying out if I'm really tired and no going to any really rough or busy places. Oh and obviously no drinking, a bottle of brecon carreg is all I party with now :)

Well I would have to go with you on that one, sounds as if you have got your head screwed on and you are looking after yourself which is what it is always about! You will always find people out there who frawn upon it, but its each to their own!

Sounds like you've got a good mix there hun :)

yeah hun. its ur choice!! i like nothing better than sitting in the pub with my mates of a sunday afternoon with a j20 and a packet of crisps haha.. I dont really feel comfortable been in clubs only coz im scared some gimo thats off there head will barge into me and something bad will happen (paraniod maybe lol)

BUt as long as ur careful :)

xx

i'm the same age and i don't see anything wrong with it.. but i'm always skint due to OH being jobless so a night in front of the telly is usually what am up to on a Sat night.. oh and work! boo hoo. hehe xxx

Ahh fab, thankyou ladies! I was just interested in how people felt about it =]

I never went out out when I was pregnant, to a club or anything, and only reason being because I turned into an OAP and couldn't have coped with the loud music etc  But I did go to my local pub a lot.. A big crowd of us were regulars, theres a quiz and things on too.. I sat with a pint of pure orange and sprite and things of pringles.. When people seen my bump they automatically looked through me which really pissed me off, as I didn't drink.. I don't see anything wrong with actually being there.. Although I hate seeing heavily pregnant women out drinking a lot.. Poor bub x

Oh god yeah I totally agree with you on that one! When I get bigger I'll probably stick to my local purely because I can't imagine waddling up and down Wind St (that's where all the bars are here) looking and feeling like Shamu!

When I was pregnant with Sam I was working up in London and friends were always meeting up in bars etc. after work, and I didn't see any harm in going along for a good night out - I'd get the train home when I got tired, didn't drink etc. - it's just nice to have a bit of time out with friends and as long as you're not out getting drunk I don't see any problem with it at all! I was always worried about what other people in the bars etc. were thinking of me though, especially when I went to meet a few friends for a big outdoor street dance thing when I was quite heavily pregnant with Toby and was holding 2 big pints of beer while friends were in the toilets

 I'm sure that was a site worth seeing eh? I hated when people thought I was drinking when I would be out.. Because I know how I feel when I see a pregnant woman drinking

Ahh it's silly how people automatically assume, it will make me paranoid later on hehe. Especially like on Saturday when at one point I was sat a table with 5 glasses of Soco and lemonade lined up infront of me, when I get bigger that could look a bit dodgy

I was out with my OH the other weekend and I had 1 small glass of wine. Ive only had 2 in the whole pregnancy and none in the first trimester even though my GP said 2-3 units per week is fine. Wine is my luxury and the thing I miss the most so had been looking forward to it for agessssss. Well as soon as my OH sat down with drinks someone from his work came over, this girl is someone Ive never met before but she knows Im pregnant cos my OH has told everyone in work. She properly looked me up and down and then at my wine glass. Cow. She was sooo drunk too and has never been pregnant, actually she's never been in a relationship past 3 weeks. Wish some people would grow up. I didnt drink it cos she made me feel so bad. I wanted to cry.

Aww tiny what a horrible girl!! You should have set your hormones on her :trouble:

I know! Theres an open bottle in the fridge from when my mum was here...think I might have a glass in the privacy of my own home tonight to make up for it! Its a shame other people can be so bloody judgemental!

Tiny what a bitch she was. you should have thrown it over her hehe

i agree with hope!!! people are so quick to judge, but they're all hypocrites! not too many years ago the health system never even told you to cut out drinking or smoking - just cut down! if you aren't some addictive person who needs drugs to survive and CAN have a glass of wine then go ahead! wine is what they recommend anyway..

they're always coming up with adverts to scare you on how one chemical can do this etc.. but you can get badly affected by anything! not just drink and smoke..

rant over :] lol!

My OH tried to convince me not to eat my burnt toast cos he read it gives you cancer. For goodness sakes!!!!! I got stubborn and ate it even though it tasted gross and he yelled at me saying if our baby gets cancer it'll be my fault! I was so angry! Seriously though, everything is bad for you these days, if you google lists of things that give you cancer its unreal!

And I keep forgetting stuff Im not supposed to have, like I ate loads of peanuts the other day and Im not supposed to cos I get allergies to some stuff (not peanuts obviously!) a small glass of wine once a month isnt going to upset the baby, people just need to get some perspective!

haah thanks yoshi  loll!

omg tiny - what was your OH thinking!?!? i wouldn've ate it too just to prove a point. lmaoooo. i try not to google stuff 'cause there's so much shit on there it's unreal! xxx
