my dad started keeping beas in June and last week they produced 19jars of scrummy honey.
Im hoping as its local honey that come next year i can start having a couple of spoonfuls a day to avoid the hayfever thats plagued me for years.
Has anyone else tried this and has it worked.

Also while on the subject can anyone tlell me if honey is safe to eat whilst preggas. For some reason my brains telling me no. but i WANT some.
Does anyone know?

mmmm honey, I love the stuff. I was told no when you are preggers or baby under 1 year (baby not you) as it can contain botulism spores. I want some honey now.

ok thankyou. Thats enough to put me off.
my dads filtered it but its not worth the risk.

golden syrup sounds good. i think ill get some and have it on porriage.

When we were on holiday in Wales the owners of the cottage we rented had hives over the road.

One day me and OH popped to the shop and left Brody and Mason with our friend Jane in the garden. While we were out a MILLION bees left the hive and went across the garden....Jane really panicked getting the kids inside the house and locking all the windows etc.

Apparently, when they do this, the just leave the hive for good, and follow the queen and don't sting or do anything else....but poor Jane didn't know that.

Sorry nothing to do with your hayfever question, but as far as I know, as long as it's local honey it will work against hayfever.

yeah bees don't sting unless you're in their flight path to their hive. But im still wary of them.

I ate loads of honey when I was pg with Ella. Went through a jar in a week once (it was from a local beekeeper and sooooooooo scrummy!).

I like it on scones with clotted cream :D

omg if a load of bee's flew out of their hive id probably bury myself or climb a tree.. im allergic to bee and wasp stings aswell...i hate the things, but i love bumble bee's lol..just as long as they are not near me :talkhand:

Budge, I have also heard that if you have hayfever (which I do) to have the local honey.................Now my sister bought me some honey last year from my local area, but I never got round to trying it, so I have no idea if it works or not but the idea is to build up your immune system to the local pollen!

Good Luck! xx

thanks tam. i thought id start taking a couple of spoonfuls a day from march onwards next year.
ill let you know if it works. My hayfever is really bad may/june time.
