Hi girls!

We are finally warming up to renovate our en-suite. (We moved to a new house a year ago and bathrooms are in a right state).

Has anybody done any work to their bathroom recently? if yes, could you please how much should it cost? We need everyhting done! Change the suite (we want a shower), put new tiles in, fittings. Have to change blasted carpet on the floor (who on earth puts a carpet in the bathroom???)

And, I would APPRICIATE a lot if you'd show your bathroom! I desperately need few ideas!

Also, if anybody knows a good bathroom specialist in Northamptonshire feel free to share!

We are doing ours ourselves next summer. My cousin's hubby has his own joinery business and he is sourcing our suite trade for us which will be around £120-£150 for a basic toilet, sink and bath. Then we need a new shower which again will be about £100, maybe more. Our bathroom is small so we won't need much in the way of tiles etc so factoring about £100 for the decor side of things and maybe another £50. So about £400 altogether.

Labour will really be minimal, we'll get an electrician to do the shower and my uncle will do the plumbing. He's also going to show me how to tile and then I'll do most of that as I'm off for nearly 2 months in the summer.

My friend got her bathroom done by B&Q and it was around £2500 for a mid-range, mid-sized bathroom. She was quoted £10,000 by Dolphin/Moben for an almost identical package

I am due to have our family bathroom done in feb after years of living with a hovel of a bathroom (shamed myself with posting piccys in dec in the homes section  ) my laptop is in for repair so I dont have my spreadsheet on hand to give exact figures but for a 10foot square room I have costed with quotes from workmen now booked and VAT.....

£2200 ish labour for plumber which includes stripping room to bare brick, new floorboards, removing/replacing an asbestos waste pipe, tiling, installation and road permit/skip. we are having the whole room rearranged si Im happy with this quote even though after DSL amounts it seems extortionate

£400 plaster and new back boards to cover piping and new celing

awaiting quote for electrician just having everything saftey checked, extractor fan and down lighters

£2000 toilet, basin, free standing bath, freestanding tap, quadrant shower, shower tower and towel radiator (all very funky had to havenice things after so long living as we have)

£400 tiles and rubber floor

Ive got workmen I trust so am happy with the quotes and shopped online for products as the big DIY stores and bathroom showrooms were ridiculously overpriced

the job is taking 2 1/2 weeks with the drying time for plaster

We have also just had a new combi boiler which added to the cost

Thanks for replies girls!
The information is soooo useful! And actually it sounds a bit cheaper then I thought....

DSL - we could never do bathroom ourself. Most I could do is paint and put wallpaper.

I was looking online and seem there are a lot of sales going on at the moment. Will have to get a few quotes (sp?).

I think I saw an ad that B&Q's sale also includes bathroom fitting so might be worth checking that out now?

IMO B&Q are way over priced especially if you are looking at something more than a basic bathroom suite, the net has lots of reputable stockists online to buy for at a fraction of the price if you are feeling brave enough to choose yourself, if you get a good plumber they will sit down and check your choices are ok e.g for bar pressure wattage on rads etc. they will also point you towards trade suppliers in your area for low cost sanitary wear etc.

I have learnt a lot since planning mine :D if you need any pointers from a novice in training I will try and give you a heads up on what I have learnt :D

Thanks hun for advice. I think we will have to take a day off next week with my DH and just go and have a look around the shops really. Will ask for the few quotes and will contact with local bathroom blokes :D

I am so excited! Our bathroom sucks....

Well, I had a look and it will cost me about £1000 to buy the bathroom suit, so I guess together with tiles and all the bits it will be about £1500 + work.

Will have to find a good bathroom bloke now!

OMG! I am so excited! :cheer:
