I've bought one of those gym ball thingy's, someone told me that if you bounce / wiggle around on it a few weeks before the baby is due then it will get the baby in the right position for birth.

Is this true?

it worked for me 1st time round, she was fully engaged and i started to dilate after a few nights of bouncing :cheer:

Whatever you do don't do what I did and spend a fortune on a huge one.
Argos do a cheap silver one, less than a fiver I think, it was perfect. The boys love playing wth it now

i think it might help. i got a birthing ball (well actualy it was a gym ball but it did the same job!) coz melissa was breech at 35 weeks. she did turn quite soon after that so it couldve helped. she was in the "perfect" position for coming out with her back slightly to my left.

I got mine from boots for a couple of quid and for me it's more about it being comfy for my back when I can't get comfy on the sofa and it tends to get him out of my ribs if he is being a wiggler :D

Can't hurt using one just don't think it's the ultimate answer to getting baby into the right position but I have heard many good things about them plus you can use it to exercise after the birth

Iv Just Bought One Because I Cant Get Comfortable On The Sofa Any More & Im Hoping It Can Ease My Back Pain :)

I've just brought one too...had to pay a bit extra for shipping as its from Ebay :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Erm nope it didnt do anything for me!!! It was in our living room from about 30 weeks and I would bounce up and down on it in the last few weeks....

I went over by 11 days and had to be induced, she was back to back and I had a failed induction!!!

After a night on the induction ward with no progress, they had me up at 6am bouncing away on one, I have a video of me on my mobile which I filmed to send to OH who had gone home to get some sleep...I had my I Pod on listening to Mika-Grace Kelly over and over again, bouncing like a mad thing...I nearly fell of it a number of times I was bouncing that hard!! I always chuckle when I hear that song now, it reminds me of the day she was born.....

No lol Used my ball 1hr a day everyday and Isaac was still back to back, but head down

D wasn't engaging got my ball out and a week later he was engaged..co- incidence...who knows?

I wrote this while I was pregnant with Rowan. Have to say I found it comfy to sit on and great during labour but as for getting him in the right position, cant say I'm convinced as he was born 'back to back'
He did arrive on his due date though :D

An Ode to my Birthing Ball

I saw it on the internet
It was a lovely add
All in blue and lilac
And the price didn't seem too bad

They had a striking model
Sat upon the ball
She looked so well and healthy
No trace of pain at all

But looking back with hindsight
I think she was too thin
A pillow up her jumper
Feined the growing life within

There were no swollen ankles
No stretch marks to behold
Cause thats not advertising
And that wont get them sold

So like a blooming wally
I coughed up twenty quid
Told the hubby was a fiver
Thought thats what women did

So I waited in with baited breath
My package to arrive
But didnt hear the doorbell
Cause my washing was outside

So to the local office
I drove with hidden glee
With passport, bill and calling card
Just to prove its me

So now I have my birthing ball
I'm proud I'll have you know
I'm bouncing and I'm rocking
And I'm rolling to and fro

So let the labour come what may
I'm ready and I'm able
Its gonna be an easy ride
It says so on the label!
