Just a quick query - I know everyone goes on about getting those big exercise balls, and I think it is to bounce on to get baby in position?

Just wondering if everyone was thinking of getting these balls - are they deemed as essential to have, as such?
Are there any other benefits that they bring, and when should you start using them from?

Its just that I think once its inflated, it may take up quite a bit of room in my small flat, lol!

Thank you girls!
x

I have no.idea, will be interested in what the girls have to say. X

Nahhh I certainly wouldn't say they are essential. They are good for people who have hip pain and stiffness as they are quite comfy to sit on and loosen your hips a bit and apparantly they can help in early labour, they had loads on the ward when I was in hospital, but they aren't everyones cup of tea xx

I guess what puts me off is more expense lol when I've enough to buy as it is! Need to start getting stuff for my hospital bag. Don't even have a bag yet. X

Hi, I have an exercise ball, we had it before I fell pregnant. I definitely wouldn’t say it is essential purchase but if you do get one I think the weighted exercise balls are just as good as the pregnancy balls and much cheaper. I have found that sitting watching the t.v and stuff it has eased back ache. They are also suppose to help bring on labour I have been bouncing for a good few weeks and am now 40 +5 so not sure if that works he he.
On the bag front, if you’re short of a few pennies sign up for the boots baby club you only have to buy one pack of pampers and you get a free changing bag, use the vouchers on the pampers you get in the bounty pack too xx

they're meant to be good to get baby in correct position, mine is back to back, or at least was more or less....after bouncing on the ball for a while baby certainly did move position....back fully back to back!!! :( so not great!
The ball also needs to be big enough so that your hips are higher than your knees when you sit on it. Mine wasnt unless I went for an expensive one, so I improvised & placed my exercise step on the floor first nearly against the sofa & the ball rests ontop & against the sofa making it the perfect height....but like I said, so far it hasnt helped!

I had.one cost £4 and I does save on back ache and if I get pelvis pain.
I had one with my dd and I loved it x x

Thanks everyone - I think if I can get a cheap one off ebay then I may consider it - and like pinkymum, there seems to be a million and one other things to buy, so I dont want to buy something which I wont benefit from, and I know for sure I wont be using it afterwards!

I havent had any kind of back or pelvis pain yet (ha, I emphasise yet, as I have now tempted fate, lol), so havent felt the need to try and ease any pain.
And honeyloops, you have quashed my theory of helping with the position, lol!
May just see how it goes...

Thank you x

I got one from Tesco yesterday for £5. I've been suffering with my hips and back and it definitely eased it after just a five minute bounce! x

Oh 5 quid is a good price! I'd be willing to pay that! X

I do like a good bounce on it plus my dd loves rolling around on it lol. X x

I wouldn't say it was essential either but I got one off amazon that came with cards that showed you different positions that you can do when you're pregnant and after pregnancy and things you can do with the baby. So although it wasn't cheap I think I'll use it for quite a while.

ooh intresting helps back ache that will be why my dd has one i always wondered why he had an excersice ball when he can hardy walk due to artharitis in his back, dont think he uses his anymore i might see if i can just borrow his if its right height for me. my back aches alot at night so may give it a try
