Hi Girls,

Well for any of you that have been following my other thread, I was diagnosed with suggestive BV on Monday, I have been given a weeks worth of antibiotics to take which I was told should hopefully clean it up... but like an idiot I went and googled it ...and have now scared myself silly, not only can it lead to miscarriage and premature births, but it can also cause fertility problems!!

Has anybody else had / got BV ?

just feel so sad and angry at myself..... has been almost 6 weeks since I last had a visit from AF and it is taking its toll on me !!!

aww hun i dnt know what to say tbh ive never had it, mabe google can be a bad thing sometimes?

best bet is to chill out and get better thats all i can surgest :(

I'm so sorry for what you must be going through...

Did you get a blood test done?

Thanks girls, my nurse said its very common around 1 in 3 women will get it as some point but most dont even know they have it, its only in the worst cases and when left untreated it can be dangerous.

have to have another swab test on Monday to see if its all gone, will ask my nurse what to do then if AF still hasnt turned up, have a horrible feeling she wil just tell me to wait it out, but I have only had one period in three months and when you are trying to conceive that can be very hard to deal with, I am not usually an unhappy person but this has totally knocked me off my feet.

I had it last year! It was horrible, I did exactly the same thing as you and googles it! Don't do it!!! Really wouldn't worry about it Hun, my antibiotics cleared it straight up and I fell pregnant a few months afterwards!!! Stop fretting it is quite a common thing!! :) x

I bet it does.

If i hadn't shown for 3 months i'd be completely screwed over too if i kept getting BFNs.

But i suppose with you being on the pill and only recently coming off that is probably where all of this confusion is originating.

Most people say 6 month before ttc after coming off due to all the crazy things that can happen with your cycle.

Hiya hun, try not to worry about the antibiotics, if you googled everything they'd all say a similiar thing! And if youve not long come off the pill it can take a 3-6 months to get a regular cycle. I came off in Jan, AF arrived 28 days after my withdrawal bleed, then i was a week late then back to 28 days...and now its off the rails and im going into my 7th month of trying. It can take its toll on you and ive found myself having "bump envy" i want one! Ha ha but it will happen in time, take your antibiotics, keep yourself well and happy and keep up the baby dancing and you'll get your BFP soon enough :) xxxxx

Hi Vicky,

I have BV-but in the sense that i am really prone to infections and when i give birth (when ever that will be!) i will have to prob have antibiotics after as i am prone to infections and that is likely when the sprog pops out! I really wouldnt worry as it is extrememly common and easily treated. I guess it must be hard ttc and not having regular cycles-prob gets your hopes up!! My case has just taken a turn for the worse-we have been ttc for 15months and just found out that my OH sperm isnt great but the fact that it has been 15months means that we prob both have problems so we now have to be referred. along with also looking for a new job this is extra stress that i dont need!!

Anyways, sorry to 'bug' your thread! and, dont worry about the BV...stop googling!!

xx

I had it, I was suffering horrendously with thrush when I got pregnant and despite me trying everything I went to the docs who finally swabbed me and discovered I had thrush and BV.

I got given 3 pessaries for the thrush, plus this gel that I had to insert every night for the BV.

All this while I was pregnant!

As you can see I am 23 weeks now, the pregnancy is progressing nicely. So don't stress out about it, get it treated and all will be good :)

Thanks girls, it is strange how you always feel a bit better when you know there are people going through the same thing as you and can relate to how you feel. Until now I hadnt even heard of BV so thought my nurse was just playing it down when she said how common it was.

Thanks again girls, and good luck to you all with your baby journeys x
