Well the time has come to go back to work :( I can't BELIEVE how fast my maternity leave has gone

I used to work 37 hours a week but requested to reduce my hours and thankfully my employers have been able to give me 22.5 hours a week over 5 days :cheer: So i'll be working 8am till 12.30pm Mon to Fri. My mam and MIL are going to look after Jacob between them :D so i'm not going to be worrying about him when i'm at work but i'm slightly worried at how we will adjust to our new routine, how tired i'll be and if i'll keep on top of all the housework! I'm sure i'll manage once we get into the swing of it, after all i'm lucky to be able to go back part time!

I've been off work since Christmas last year so it's been a long time! How did you ladies find your first few weeks back at work? Did it go better/worse than you expected? How did you feel about leaving your baby (even if it was with family)?

Thanks girls

Honestly it wasn;t as bad as I thought it would be... I felt more of a sense of achievement at work than I could at home, and the adult socialising made the world of difference compared to baby talk and toys all day..

It was tiring to start with (and still is for me, with fulltime and commuting) but I think you'll feel better for it after a couple of weeks and it'll become normal again. Even better if you have free childcare (not jealous honestly.. lol!).

Hope it goes ok for you and you find time to do things xxx

It really wasn't too bad (been back 3 days a week for 4 weeks now). Feels like I've never been away. Started James in a nursery halfway between work and home, commute was a bugger for both of us, he started at childminders this week and loves it. Working also makes me so excited to see him and look forward to when I'm off - not that I didn't like being at home but sometimes I was desperate for my OH to come home! Oh, and the washing still gets done - in the morning before I go to work!

   for you! Im ab dreading going back to work. At least your employers have agreed to you working part time though :) Im sure things will work out fine for you x

I went back to work 6 weeks ago, 3 days a week. It has gone ok, but has been very tiring as Emma's sleep pattern is now very irratic. She goes to different groups with the childminder which is nice. I'm glad to be back really as I was getting a bit down being at home. It does make you appreciate baby when you are together. Hope it all goes well for you

Hope it goes well for you :D
Do let us know

I am going back to work full time in January :(
Booked Calleigh in with a nursery today 4 days a week the other day i work on a weekend so she will be with her daddy then.
Not at all looking forward to it, not sure how i will be leaving her with nursery.

I think half the battle is feeling confident that your LO is happy when you are away from them. Kathryn goes to a nursery 1 day a week at the moment but from Monday 3rd Nov it will be for 3 days per week when term starts again. She settled really well when I took her for a taster half hour and was just as happy to sit with the staff there as she was with me. The first time I tooke her for a full day she was really eager to get down from my arms and start playing and the week after I turned up and she was laughing her little socks off. It sounds awful but I do not worry about her at all when I'm at work- I just get on with my job and think about her occasionally but I know she's in good hands so I'm happy and relaxed. Hopefully it'll be the same for you but have lots of  anyway- going back to work is something I wish could be avoided but alas, for many of us it's a necessity.

Thanks for your replies ladies

I couldn't sleep properly last night, kept waking up thinking about work! I even asked that dog if she wanted to go back to work this morning instead of asking her if she wanted to go out the back   I feel physically sick when I think about it!

Your replies have helped though and i'm sure once i've done my first shift things wont seem as bad and i'll just get on with it! I'll let you know how it goes!

Hello

I've got my first shift over with and it was no where near as bad as I expected :cheer: Infact it went really well and it was lovely to see everyone again :D The time flew by and I was so excited to see Jacob when I finished! Only thing was that he was asleep when I got to his Nanna's so I had to wait 45 minutes until he woke up

Anyway, thanks again for your support
