Oh hun! I am soo so sorry to read this.

does anyone know if after 2 anacaphaly pregnancys if you can go on to have a healthy child in the future? or if it means that after 2 you continue to have it i know its very rare to get a second case of it so cant find out much litrature on further pregs after. both pregs were while taking folic acid the second time around i have been taking 5mg since january, they dated me at 11wks1day and i have a phone consultation tommorrow to discuss the termination. :( am gutted hubby is being a diamond as are family may not come on here for a few days will see how im feeling sometmes it is nice to have your company! xx

So very sorry Hun  I don't know anything about the condition I'm afraid - really hope the specialists can help you out :( xxx

thankyou the people in fetal abnormalitys said they didnt know but would speak to genetics in case its a genetic thing (though no family history whatsoever) and we are currently trying to join an anacaphaly forum which hopefully people will be able to tell us more. we also have some stuff about a trial they did at ucl so may ring them and see if someone there can discuss with us ?x

k8 you will need to do some genetic testing you and oh and if its a genetic problem (that seems to be) then you can go ahead and have IVF where they test the embryos for the genetic problem and they implant only the ones that are healthy.

if the tests show that the anencephaly was random (rare to occur again) then you can try one more time.

:cry:Oh no, so gutted for you hun.

dont know anything about anacaphly, there is a genetic condition i learned about when looking into MC after mine, Its a gene mutation that prevents the absorbtion of folic acid. cant remember what is called.

So sorry this has happened again. i really dont know what to say. thinking of you. xxxxx

:hugs: xxx

I looked it up its MTHFR. maybe have a look at that

Oh sweetie - I'm so sorry for your loss - are you a diabetic? Or have you ever taken seizure medication? Those are the only things I can think of that could possibly increase risks, not that that offers you any comfort at all :-( Thinking of you and sending such big hugs xx

no sadly it seems very unknown as to why its happening, iv never been diabetic and blood pressure is normal i am a bit overweight but idont think its that to be honest. there have beeen a few suggestions its random, more common if concieve a girl or it could be that i just cant for whatever reason absorb folic acid, there is a clinical trial test going on at ucl to determine if inositol which apparently is a vitamin can help too but i dont know anything about inositol and cant join that trail (actually for various reasons i dont want to ) anyway.
