Hi Ladies, firstly let me apologise for the long post - I need to get every thing down to get it clear in my head!
As some of you ladies know I decided to go private as I felt I was getting no where with the NHS. Well last monday I had a blood test to test AMH ( this gives an estimateof the remaining egg supply)
We went back today to talk through the options. Having tried for the last 18 months i expected them to say I was going to need help - i thought just clomid. Especially as I got my first lines on a opk this month. The doctor first of all went through all my previous blood tests results and OH results and took down our medical history. Having previously been referred only to be told there was nothing wrong this took a while!
We then got on to the AMH test, my levels were not decetable - basically i have premature ovarian failure. My levels were 0.07, to give you an idea these levels should ideally be around 30 - 60!
The doctor has talked us through the options either egg donation IVF or adoption.
As you can imagine I have come away with 1001 things running through my mind. My first concern is I was referred in 2009 with what they then thought was early menopause but sent away but a fertility specialist because my FHS LH levels were normal - what if i had complained alittle more? What if I had children younger? Would the NHS ever have found this out - seeing as they wanted to repeat all my bloods and scans the n i would have had to wait until january 2012 for a follow up.
I am only 26 now, the doctor thinks I will probally go thorugh the menopause by the end of the year. I have already noticed the hot flushes are getting worse, the cycles are getting longer etc.
I know some of you ladies are going through IVF, any using an egg donor? I have been given the option of finding my own donor - this will be much quicker but are there more complications with eggs from someone you know?!
Any thoughts will be gratefully apprieciated. I am suprisingly happy - at least I feel I finally have some answers.
