Hiya
My baby is almost 6 weeks old now. He has always fed around every 2 hours, even at night which is exhausting, but now, the past few days, he's only feeding for about 5 - 10 mins, refusing any more, no matter what I do, then he's hungry 20 mins later, and then sometimes after that the same again. This happens after every feed. It seems worse in the morning as sometimes he'll want feeding from about 6am to 10am about 6 times. Does anyone have any advice? As it's a nightmare in the night and when going out :( I'm also concerned he may not be feeding enough over all now because of this. :(

My lo was like this - I just used to stop for a bit, wind and pop him back on. It was pretty much constant feeding in the first 8 weeks but the gaps between each slowly for bigger and he fed for longer. He never did feed for that long - I think he must have been quite an efficient feeder as some mums would say their lo feed for 40mins but he was 20 min max. xx

Babies tend to feed more when they're going through a growth spurt. I seem to remember they go through one around 6 weeks. Hopefully someone else will be able to clarify. And they become really efficient feeders and don't take half as long to feed so are still getting enough but the length of time really shortens. Mine have never been long feeders. Hopefully it'll all settle again soon and you'll have some longer gaps. I just used to latch them on and try not to worry about how often and length between feeds xxx

I try to wind him and change him but he's still not initially interested and it takes that 20ish mims before he's hungry. He used to feed for about 40 mins so that's what's concerned me most as it's drastically shorter time :/ I hope he does grow out of it as it's exhausting at the moment and I need sleep lol x

Hopefully that's what is it, although the HV keeps reassuring me that the short times between feeds that's he's been doing before, sometimes as little as an hour is a growth spurt, and I. Thinking he can't always be on a growth spurt lol.
I think I'm just getting so tired and emotional now as I feel exhausted :(

Sounds similar to what my LO did. As long as they are having pleanty of wet nappies and growing your baby should be getting enough. It will pass but till then get some snacks and drinks next to you put your feet up as BF as you LO pleases. Good luck x

Even at 7mths my lo can sometimes be like this, he was doing it alot at your lo's age. It could be growth spurt, comfort, being too nosy( this is my los biggest problem he hates missing things), is it warm where you are, they have quick feeds to quench their thirst in the heat. Aslong as lo is growing its ok , hope it passes for you soon x

Hiya, sounds like cluster feeding. It's normal and usually meant for me that my lo was going to sleep for a good amount :) it's frustrating thoug I know but I felt better when I just went with it and accepted I was stuck of the sofa for an hour or 2. You should download the wonder weeks app if you have a smart phone or tablet. It explains everything and shows you when they are going through the leaps which affects their behaviour and feeding. We're going through one at the moment and lo does not sleep! She's 6 months if it wasn't for the app and knowing it will be over soon I would be tearing my hair out :)
