Hi all

Hope you r well.

Anyone had any experience of ashermans syndrome. I am a 32 year old and have a 7 year old dd and 2 miscarriages in the last 13 mths althou we have bein tryin for over 18mths. My last miscarriage in August resulted in no periods. I had asked my Dr bout ashermans and he thought i was over re-acting. I insisted we did HSG and today i had it done. It was not nice and i honestly thought more painful that my pain relief free birth.
But my fears were confimed it is ashermans and the dr thought a moderate case thou did admit he adnt seen many cases. After looking at my x-rays the uterus( that is usually a perfect triangle kinda shape) looks more like the rocky mountains.

I have emailed Dr Lower in london to see if he can help.

Anyone here suffer with ashermans ?

Thanks

hi, didnt want to read and run - cant help sorry but hopefully soemone here can.

Hey hun. i went to Dr Lower in london after 2 D&C and no period for 10 weeks, he said i had a small are of possibly scar tissue, while i was waiting for a hysteroscopy i discovered i was pregnant again, i'm no 23 weeks with no sign of the scarring on my scans, although Dr Lower told me that if he scarring is mild it can be broken down by a growing baby :)

Mr Lower is great and really is the one to go to, i hope he can help you hun, i paid about £450 for consultation and 3D scan but the surgery if you need it is alot more expensive i was quoted around £4000/5000 most of which is hospital fees, he works form the princess grace hospital.

Let us know how you get in :hugs: xx

Thank you so much.

Wow £4000-£5000 i could never afford that .

I live abroad but am obviously British this is why i need to see him, where i am no one has really heard of Ashermans never mind having dealt in it.

I had my HSG done Friday when i was diagnosed and can honestly say looking at my x-rays they are a mess. The canal leading up to the uterus is almost totally blocked other than a tiny gap that is open.My uterus looks more like the hills in wales than the triangler shape it usually is.

So prob looks like no more babies for me

Truely gutted, but again thank you soooo much at least i now know what to expect

Cande xxxxx

:hugs: Dr Lower really is the best no matter how bad your scarring is he has so much experience in fixing it, if you go for consult with him he will be very honest about your chances of having a sucsessful pregnancy.

There is a fantastic yahoo group full of ladies and loads of info on ashermans, ashermans.org. you have to request to be a member and can take a bit of time to get accepted but it has lists of Dr's all over the world who are specialists along with sucess stories and advice. cant recommend it enough

Good luck :hugs: xxx

Im sorry to hear of your problems Cande.I had a mc back in February and I have not ovulated since then. Someone on here had mentioned Ashermans sydrome as a possible cause for me so your story is of interest. Is the HSG the lap and dye xray test or is it sometng else? I have had this and I was told there were no problems. I am not gettign anywhere really with my dr and reading this has made me think should I push for more investigation.

Ive not herd of Ashermans, what is it?

I hope you can get something sorted sharpish, glad to hear you were persistent xx

Yes it was the dye and x ray and if yours was clear then i dont think you need to worry bout ashermans as it would show up on ur x ray, but have you had ur bloods tested such as prolactin, cos i know this can stop ovulation and periods.

It is usually something that comes after multiple d and cs but can also be caused from any uterine surgery or even a c-section. It is basically adhesions in the uterus( or scar tissue) which mainly results in miscarriage in pregnancy.
Pregnancy is not recommended until scar tissue is cut away but this needs to be done by a experienced surgeon.

Hope this helps
