Why is it that everyone seems to think that breatfeed babies never have a full tummy???????????????? Even DH came out with it this morning after my inibility to get Toby back to sleep without feeding him...
... do they not think that by that comment they are suggesting I am neglecting my baby
:wall2::wall2::wall2::wall2::wall2::wall2::wall2::wall2::wall2::wall2::wall2::wall2:

If it's any consolation I don't think Oscar has ever hone to sleep without a boob in his mouth. I think it's comfort as much as anything.
People have such misconceptions that breastmilk isn't filling enough x

I know, it is more that DH seems to get him from wide awake to sleeping at 5.30am, where with me he seems to think it is play time despite lights off etc :wall2:

So in the middle of my strop I said I guess it will get easier when he is weaned... as in he won't see me as the full source of food only... at which point DH then responds with 'yeah, as he will be full' :shock:

That's awful! I bottle feed but would never assume a breast fed baby didn't get full from breast milk! Hello that's what it's there for!!!! Lol! I think it sounds like a definate comfort thing. Plus he'll be able to smell the milk when you have him and that might be why he won't settle x

^^^^ G definitely gets full up - I've seen his nappies!!!! Plus if babies aren't full they cry! I'm pretty convinced that sometimes G was settling better for my parents (when i was there) because i smell of milk.

The only way Evelyn goes to sleep or settles is on the boob and once she is FULL ;) she just plays with it in her mouth and twiddles my hair or necklace in her hand until she's asleep :cloud9:

I'm probably more knarked as people are suggesting that he needs weaning, he doesn't at all, and DH says he is happy to be led by me and do the BLW at 6 months, but he is desperate to start him weaning... if I thought that he needed more I would wean him but he doesn't

hey hon
all my family are saying LO is hungry and I should start weaning now. Lots also said right from the start 'he's a big baby and will need topping up with formula' So what do they do in countries with no formula or with big babies in years gone by?!!!:wall2::wall2:Anyway, sometimes I have serious moments of doubting my bodies ability and worry he is hungry (he is not, he is v happy) but nowhere near going thorugh the night yet...must keep the faith in the boobs!!!
Bet it's your milk smell when OH manages to settle your LO!

I was worried about weaning as o is 6m but he's really not ready. Even if we do wean them, milk is still their major source of calories for a long time yet x
