Really feel pissed off now, phoned midwife to just let her know what was happening and she said that there's no one on duty to come out until 8 tomorrow morning so to take paracetamol and go back to bed! WTF! I'm 10 days overdue, I want to be in labour! So angry I am crying, don't know whether to say sod it, keep moving about and then just go to hospital at last minute or to take her advice. I almost don't want to take her advice just cos she sounded like such an unsympathetic b*tch.
I'm a bit scared to stop encouraging labour in case it goes away altogether, is that possible or can I just 'put it on hold', like she says?

Oh shit!

I was about to post on the other thread that I was off to bed and fully expected you to be at home cuddling your little one by the time I get up in the morning! So sorry to hear this! How can there be no one on duty? I thought there would be cover 24hrs a day since giving birth is an unpredictable kind of thing!

Anyway, the first thing to do is to try and keep calm (easier said than done). You've worked hard for this home birth, don't give up now if you don't need to. Relax and see how you feel and see what your body does. 8am isn't that far away in the scheme of things, it may all work out perfectly. I really don't know what else to suggest, but I hate the idea of you being upset and not having a midwife on hand.

:hugs:

Oh no :( She could at least have been a bit more sympathetic! Paracetamol and bed does nothing... they suggested that to me too but there was no chance of me getting any sleep so I spent most of the night in the bath - it helped so much. Hope you're ok and you do get your home birth

Id try and wait it out hun so you get your home birth, have a bath, paracetomal, try and sleep and 8am will be here before you know it :) xx

Aw no what a horrible midwife! How unsympathetic can one woman be, especially as this is your first and you really want her at home! I am shocked there is no one on duty, surely it's something that should be covered round the clock. Just realised it's after 8am, hope you are ok and someone gets out to you this morn to see how things are progressing. Look forward to positive updates!! Xx
