thanks for the replies.
he finally went to sleep after having 6oz of formula
he simply wouldnt come off te breast. i wouldnt make a habbit of this but i was just so exhausted and feeding that much had made me feel quite weak and dizzy.
but after feeding for hours on me how could he have still been hungry enoughto gulp down 6oz of formula. i know he gets milk from me, i hear him swallowing and i have to use nipple shields and can see milk at the end.

the green poo, fussiness and the gripey wind could be a sign of too much foremilk (oversupply) - how often are you changing boobs? I would suggest perhaps feeding from the same side for 2/3 hours - block feeding as that will reduce the amount of foremilk he is taking in.Oversupply is very often misdiagnosed as colic. Also do you have a fast supply or a forceful let down as that could be causing him to take in air.
my let down is really not that fast to be honest. i swap sides after about an hour because he gets really frustrated when he has to work a lot harder for milk and will simply not do it.
im just not convinced that wind is his problem i dont know

This might not be of any help to you right at this minute, but have you tried homeopathic remedies? My LO went through a phase where he would go into a rage unless he was being fed, but even on the boob he was really fussy... I gave him chamomilla or passiflora which helped SO much and really quickly too... i think it took about 5 mins to settle him down after i'd crushed up a tablet and mixed it with a bit of breast milk... i know it can be so frustrating and upsetting so I hope you get it sorted!
never heard of this, will definately look in to it if this carries on, thank you

If he's scream between the same hours every night then I'm thinking it could be colic. Finlay was like this too and breastfeeding was the only thing settling him. Try Infacol and see how he goes but you will need to give him it every feed for a few days before there will be a difference.
Maybe try him with a dummy. He could just be sucking for comfort rather than hunger. Dummy will also help with any wind if it is colic.
he has a dummy but when hes having these screaming episodes its really not what he wants and he just spits it out, we hold it in for him but he will just turn his head away.
iv tried infacol before when he was about a month old and was having these episodes but didnt notice a difference. to be fair he was nowhere near this bad at 4/5 weeks but he wasnt a happy bunny either.
how can he be eating so much though? how is there room? im so confused
