Under pressure to stop breastfeeding

The baby Cafe is excellent for support they have a midwife, HV's and breastfeeding councilors available on hand to give you help and support. I have found my baby cafe invaluable and also one of the best baby groups I have found, its really friendly and you get a free lunch (well you do at mine) and tea and coffee, plus theres always someone to talk to and to help as well as other mothers who you can chat to. he baby's seem to love it too having lots of fun with the treasure baskets.

Both me and Beanie posted a link to the baby cafe website so just take a look to see if theres on in your local area.

If you don't have one then I would call the NCT helpline and see if you can get a breastfeeding councilor to come to your home.

If you have any trouble getting in contact with anyone then feel free to PM me and I will try and help you further :D

With regards to whether I think you should give in, I personally wouldnt give in based on the informatio you have been given from other mums who have bottle fed and mums who stopped breastfeeding, but then again Im not the one who is dealing with a crying baby so It probably easy for me to say. I would try and get some help on the breastfeeding side though and see if that helps your situation, then you can reassess how you feel with breastfeeding once you have sought help and see how things go. Breastfeeding problems do tend to sort themselves out sometimes with help quickly and other times not as quick but I hope things start to get easier for you

well all the advice and links have been fantastic thank you, i never expected such a response to yet another problem i was moaning about. really thank you.

Well i am going to go to a breastfeeding cafe and see a specialist. Im going to stick with breastfeeding because its what I want to do regardless of what family may be telling me. I will exhaust all options to improve breast feeding and both mine and Dylans health and THEN if nothing changes il have to look at formula. But for now we're going with breast!! :cheer:

I really hope things improve though because things are pretty lousy right now.
I will of cause keep you all updated. Fingers crossed  xx

You have got some determination woman!!! You should be so, so proud of yourself! You have gone through so much yet still want to carry on!
I really hope it pays off for you!

Ok i had a baby with colic (of oversupply reading the earlier posts is probably waht it was).

I always said that if BF wasn't working for me i would give up as i feel/felt that nurtition for a baby is better than poor feeding regardless of the source. sounds fine in theory but when we got to 3 months and had problmes with supply leading to the HV suggesting formula top up boy did the guilt kick in. I think it is sad that i felt like that as i still belive nutrition is the most important factor.

So if you are asking waht i would do in your situation, part of me would say Ok i'll give formula, and the stubborn part of me would say just one more day....

If you were Dylan, waht do you think he would want???
