I know im always moaning about my kids, but since yesterday all ive done is sit in floods of tears because bailey isnt well.. yesterday i bumped his head as i was folding the pushchair down, and it really hurt him and it bruised.. please dont tell me im a bad mum because i already know that! tuesday he fed as normal, tuesday night he had a bottle of formula because he was feeding so much off me i needed a break and i was so tired after the meet! he slept till 5am which was great i had a fab night sleep, but then thats when he went downhill.. he fed 3 times yesterday for just 2-5 mins each time, and each time he was sick! sometimes loads sometimes just a little.. all hes done is winge and cry and its like hes in pain.. at first i thought it was cos i bumped his head but yesterday he got a cough and today he seems very wheezy so i dont think its because of that.. im scared incase its bronchilitis.. my other boys had this in october time and was seriously ill with it and ended up in intensive care, bailey is only 6 weeks old, hes got the signs, gone off feeding, cough, wheeze.. all i done is cry for him, and me cos im tired..
also his fontanelle has been sunken all day yesterday and its still sunken now! is this a sign of dehydration, i cant remember

through last night he fed once for all of 2 minutes, hes so sleepy and its not like him, if hes not asleep hes crying

going to take him to the clinic and mention my worries to hv but worried incase we get refered to hospital..

First of all you are not a bad mum so don't think that way hun

Yeah when it's sunken in it can be a sign of dehydration.

I'd say take him to docs as well hun, let us know how he's doing

I agree you are not a bad mom accidents do happen , but I was told to watch out for sunken fontanelle when Dylan had diahorrea incase of de hydration

ket us know how bailey is doing

and a big hug for you

As I told you last night you are not a bad mummy - all your boys love you - including Mark.

Call your HV and get them to come to you. You sound so tired that they should make the journey to you not the other way round.

Big hugs..... let me know how you get on

Hi well i took bailey to the gp at 11.30am and he said he has a chest infection/virus, hes to young to be given any antibiotics so he only gave him calpol.. he told me to watch out for any colour changes ie grey/blue as this is a sign of bronchilitis and with him being so young it can happen very quickly.. so i have the added worry he might get that now!

after the docs i took him to get him weighed at the clinic and immediatly the health visitor came over because he was in so much pain she was quite concerned etc.. she held him for 15 mins and said he has the classic signs of tummy ache, and he is a little dehydrated.. he was pushing himself up and stretching his self out because the pain was to much to bear.. finally some answers the docter wasnt intrested when i told him he had belly ache.. so to be told i wasnt going mad helped alot.. i had a bit of a cry and she told me not to worry and he will get better but it would take time.. once hes better then he will start feeding properly.. she did tell me to get intouch with philis the breastfeeding support worker as i need to keep my milk up for once he is better etc..
she gave me a prescription for nystatin again ( 2 weeks now hes had thrush and its not clearing) she explained it can take a couple of bottles to get it to work, and she also gave me some calpol for his tummy ache.. so at 2.30 i gave him 2.5 mls of calpol and he had a little feed and he settled for 2 hours no crying, no pain, so the calpol must have worked alongside the walk we had this afternoon.. walking does wonders i think..

its now 5.30 and again hes screaming in pain but cant have any more calpol until at least 6.30pm..

i really feel like banging my head against a brick wall, its really doing my head in and im in bits.. worrying about his breathing and his pain i just cant stop crying at the moment..

You're doing a great job babes
You've done everyting a brilliant mum would do

oh hun, i hope Bailey is ok, my heart goes out to you it really does, its hard enought when any child is ill, but he is so young.
you are doing a fab job-keep it up

You are not a bad Mum. I really feel for you as it is so worrying when your kids are ill especially so young. We are always here to talk though if you want.

I don't know what top say to help but just wanted to send you lots of hugs

I think you are doing a brilliant job and you aren't always whinging about your kids! It must be bloody hard work with 3 boys so young and with your little one poorly you have every right to have a whinge!

Thanks for the words of comfort girls.. he had a good night last night and i had the best night sleep, although he didnt feed to great i thought he was on the mend, the calpol and gripe water i gave him helped an awful lot, however throughout today he has gone down hill.. hes had calpol and gripe water and his wheeze seems more aparent now.. his cough is worse.. i thought i noticed he was going a bluey colour earlier this evening but mark said to see how it goes, hes also got the snotty nose as well now so he has the classic signs of bronchilitis :? hes now been asleep for 2 hours solid, we are getting really frustrated with his screaming and pains bless him, i dont wanna take him bck to the docters because they have already seen him and thers nothing they can do for him, i dont wanna feel like im a over paronoid mummy, i got all that with my other 2, so unless he actually stops breathing theres nothing i can do for him..

It is just so hard watching him like this, when my other boys had it they was 5 months old, they was a little older and could deal with it a little more even though they needed intensive care in the end, but hes so young, i feel like im not gonna be listened to unless he really gets seriously ill over the next few days.. and i cant bear that! not now...

  sorry your having a hard time

i hope he is better soon & you are certainly not a bad mum so get that thought out your head!
i think the crying gets 2 you and makes you feel quite useless, freya has caught a cold and has been screaming alot too, its hard work and v worrying when they dont settle.

dont know if this will help but my neice had this wen she was a month old..her mum jtook her to the GP who wasnt much use so she took her to the minor injury/illness unit and they instantly admitted her for oxygen theapy.
but unfortunatly she went down hill and as we in north wales dont ave a dedicated childrens unit (just a standard childrens ward) they had to transfer her to stoke - on-trenk to a special baby unit so she could get the best care - it really is a horrible illness so if u are worried think he is in pain or changing colour please please get him seen to as this is so nasty in a young baby as i well know.

Sorry SSS I've only just seen this........how is he today?
You are absolutely not a bad mummy, you are doing a fantastic job!! A bad mummy wouldn't be asking on here for help & support
It is difficult when they scream & cry as you want them not to be in pain, and not giving you a headache, but its the rough with the smooth isn't it :)
Hugs for you & Bailey (& Mark and the boys too)

Thanks

Hes just the same today, gone off his feeds again fontanelle is sunken a little more, but the docter told me it would sink if he was due a feed.. so i dont know.. his cough is awful and its choking him at times and then hes sick, or cant get his breath back.. he was a little blue this morning so put him on his tummy and winded him for like half an hour, nothing came up so rung the gp's and he just said keep an eye on him, you can feel the wheeze in his back now, so i know hes not well at all..

if hes no better later on tonight hes going to accident and emergency i just cant take any chances.. if i get there though and they say how poorly he is i wont be happy this wil be 3 days now ive been asking for help and no one has listened, as a mum who has had 2 kids with bronchilitis i know the symptoms etc..

hun ur right if he is that unwell (poor little mite) then dont take chances i know what u mean when u say doctors/NHS direct dont listen when christopher was discharged from postnatal ward i was telling then he wasnt right but they told me a peadiatrition has checked him and hes fine. so i beleived them. only four hours after having him at home we noticed he was breathing rapidly and wouldnt feed or open his eyes. so nhs direct told us not to worry as he was only a few hours old. so we took him go A&E who told us they dont deal with babies and to take him to emergency doc - the doc looked at him and made sure a peadiatrition was waiting for us on the childrens ward.
he was jaundice and severly dehydrated so was dmitted to SCBU for a week - i was so annoyed that the peadiatition who checked him the day we left hospital missed it :shakehead:

so please dont risk it if u feel he is unwell or having trouble breathing get thim to hospital call an ambulance if u are worried that way he will geyt seen straight away.

keep us updated i hope he has a speedy recovery

I have just rung and demanded he be seen again so im on my way to out of hours gp unit..

Hope everything is ok hun keep us posted

Alastair had bronchilitis and they tried to tell me it was a chest infection, stick to ur guns hun dont leave till ur happy with what that say good luck
