Anyone using oil / cream on their tummies?

I have been using cocoa butter, bio oil and also a collagen boosting body butter (once a day at the beginning and now twice a day). I have just started to get stretch marks on the underside of my bump, not big angry ones, but there are quite a few small wiggly ones in a patch. Like others have said, if you are going to get them, no amount of oil/cream will prevent them. If the skin has to stretch then it has to stretch!
I'm hoping I won't get loads more but who knows, I still have 5 weeks of growing to do! x x

Crap - both my Mum and sister got strechmarks!!

I don't mind though, it's part and parcel of it all I guess!

Hi carnat,

I know I am not preggers at the mo but I used cream from 6 weeks when pregnant with my son, it was a mum to be cream from superdrug (this was over 10 years ago tho) and I havent got one stretch mark, he was over 9lbs too so I really swear by creams and keeping bump moisturised. I think the one I had did have a little cocoa butter in it, i dont like the smell either. But just wanted to say my mum and sister got stretch marks and I didnt so not 100% that you will hun xx

I was recomended Almond oil by a few people and so far so good, I have a few stretch marks on my right thigh which were there pre-pregnancy so I was really worrying about stretch marks.... I have 13 weeks to go so obviously I still have time for them to appear but I will try to embrace them

I don't really like the smell of Bio Oil but the Almond oild smells lovely (not overpowering at all). Also it is meant to be brilliant for perineal (sp?) massage in Tri 3.

In Hollad an Barrett the Almond oil is £6.50 (ish) for two bottles at the moment.

xx

Get to the shops girls.....

Grazia is only £1 this week and there's a free Bodyshop body butter for every reader! :)

xx

I actually have a massive tub of Body shop body butter at home.

Does it matter what "flavour" it is? I think mine is Strawberry!

Doh, I am such a dope!

I asked the same question round about the same time as you Carnat then went on to buy loads of different stuff, bio oil, various body butters, moisturising sprays etc. My problem is I buy everything then forget to use them so I haven't religiously used anything. So far so good though, nearly 39 weeks and no sign of any stretch marks however I have heard some don't see any until after the baby is born so we'll see. Unfortunately I think it's just your luck, if you're gonna get them you're gonna get them!!! X

I have a big tub of Derma Mum, but also use Palmers stretch Mark lotion and Mama2Be orgnaic oil.

and its hubbies job to rub it in every night! although he does always try to tell me my boobies need it too but he just gets a slap. x

I used cocoa butter and then bio oil last time, from about 12 weeks, still got stretch marks in the last fews weeks, was devastated at the time, but they don't bother me now. I'll probably start using bio oil soon, but my belly's quite wobbly from last time lol, so probably plenty of room for stretching yet :)

Also make sure you do your bum and thighs too, as I got them in the middle of my bum cheeks and at the top of my thighs on the sides :( x x

I'm going to do tummy, thighs, bum and boobs!

I might let OH help out with bum and boobs

Just went across the road to Superdrug and they don't have any Bounty packs and they don't know when they'll get some in??

Also they has a crappy selection of creams so I ended up with the fragrance free cocoa butter for the time being!

I've been using Body Shop body butter (on mango at the moment) and Sanctuary Mum to Be Oil (which smells amazing) religiously every night since about 20 weeks and so far so good. Like every one said if you're gonna gonna them you're gonna get them but I felt better at least trying to do something to prevent them. Plus my tummy is lovely and soft now and bubs seems to enjoy me massaging the cream in each night xxx

I think that even if you are prone to getting them by moisturising you are help them fade quicker xx

LOL - I now want to go out and buy every product on the market and slather myself up in a concoction

I am honestly not that fussed (a few stretch marks is nothing) but if creaming myself a few times a day could possible help then I'll go for it.

Will start with my cocoa butter and bodyshop body butter and see what else I can find on special.

Thanks everyone

i used bio-oil with my twin pregnancy and im covered in stretchmarks, granted they only came about 35 weeks but boy they came thick and fast. I'm in two minds to use any this time? im not sure if they would work?

If your going to get stretch marks, your going to get them im afraid. No cream, oil or moisturiser can prevent them, as the layer of the skin that streches and makes stretch marks is beneath waterproof layers of skin, so impossible to reach.

In the grand scheme of things, stretch marks seem a small price to pay for a
beautiful baby x

I have some Boots vouchers as well so I'll go and get my bounty pack and pick up some bio oil!!

I cannot believe I forgot to think of this, I've had a bump for weeks

Don't worry bio oil say to start using it from 14 weeks. You'll be fine!
I started using mine on Monday some how I have gone through nearly half the medium size bottle:shock:and it's not exactly cheap!:eh:

You're using farrr too much then! A little goes a long way! x

My mum bought me some rosa oil or something like that, not cheap either! I have used abit of it, but I know I'm gonna get stretch marks, I had them before my BFP. Tbh, I dont care as OH is the only one who will be seeing me in the nuddy, and they show that I carried my baby :) x

Of course and I totally agree but if something as simple as creaming myself after a bath can help in any way, shape or form then I'll give it a crack

Its worth a try I suppose :) Bio oil in the bath is nice, leaves you feeling soft when you get out. Actually you could probably put any cream or moisturiser in the bath and have a long soak. I put baby lotion (the pink stuff?) in mine, it didnt look too appealing but made my skin soo soft :D xxxx
