Hi, I'm 5 weeks today and have a little light pink/brown cm, I've MC'd before and wondered if there is anyone out there who has had this and been put on progesterone for a successful outcome?

I am just worried because it's happened before and I MC. Went to the GP today and he said all he can do is book me in for an early scan from week 6 and is going to ring me later today. Can they not prescribe progesterone or at least test for it at 5 weeks?

In my experience, on the NHS they wont do anything. I went private with my first for that reason. Only for progestetone. The rest of the antenatal care i had on the NHS

Hi Knopk, thanks for that - when you say you went private for the progesterone how did you do it? I am with an ivf clinic as I was supposed to be starting treatment but on the basis that I fell pregnant without it I'm presuming they wont do anything now? Or will they if I pay?

I would call them and ask them to prescribe it, I was also under care of private fertility specialists and got progesterone that way. I had it when trying naturally and obv during IVF cycles too xx

Ok perhaps I'll try that, I just presumed that unless I was going through a cycle with them that they wouldn't do anything...thanks!

Lisey, sorry one other question, did you explain your situ to your ivf clinic when you asked and they just gave it to you or did you have to go in for an appointment and wait for a scan first? Did they test your prog before they gave you it?

If you start progesterone too late it won't work. I was on progesterone withink my last pregnancy and this one. With my last one I started it too late.. and miscarried. This time started it as soon as I got a bfp. I also had to pay for it private.... but because I was with my recurrent mcs specialists by the time this pregnancy came, the NHS prescribed the remaining progesterone I needed. X

I was seen for a while before IVF by the fertility team there and was given it for natural cycles. It was then transferred to a NHS prescription and I was able to get repeats. I was automaticaaly prescribed it for IVF cycles. I might have a box I can send you but wouldn't be able to send until tomorrow and that's if I can find them, lots of things in boxes at the mo due to decorating.
progesterone wasn't tested beforehand, I don't see why they wouldn't prescribe it really, esp if you have been under their care anyway xx

Thanks Lisey that's really sweet, but don't worry, I'll chat to the clinic. I'm not even sure I def need it, it might all be worry over nothing I've literally had the smallest amount of pink/brown cm not even actual bleed. So I might not need it. I've only MC once before so there is no telling whether it was anything to do with that I just thought it couldn't hurt.

Thanks PeanutButter, I have only had 1 MC so think I'm hypersensitive looking for things now - just spoke to the GP who has booked me in for a scan next Thursday and asked him about progesterone and he had no idea, said it wasn't something they ever prescribe. he asked me 'did I mean folic acid'! Errr, no. I also have an acupuncture app tomorrow and she's very good at giving me the info on who will do what and when so hoping she'll have some advice.

Ok, well let me know if you don't have luck with clinic and I will have a look.
I had spotting on day of bfp with this pregnancy and it was on and off until 10 weeks, doesn't always mean something bad xx
