Anybody who's parents paid for their wedding, I need help!!!

ooo this had given men some good ideas also, mum & dad are giving me £8000 so not as much as yours lol but still want to get them something nice and the engraved picture frame for bridesmaids is a wicked one!!

We just gave flowers as the best gift of all was to see their daughter happy & in love (my dad's words). Hope you have a fantastic day xx

We got my mum a necklace and earrings and my dad the matching cufflinks.
Think it came to a couple of hundred pounds but they had paid for almost everything for our wedding.
I don't even know what the total came to   mum wouldn't tell me

Mum and Dad didn't pay for the whole wedding but they did pay for a lot though and I couldn't have done it without all their help so I got them a voucher for a day trip on a steam train, they had a choice of destinations (think they chose London to Bath in the end) I got them first class tickets that included a picnic basket for lunch (it had stuff like champagne, smoked salmon, sandwiches, cakes etc in it).

They had a fantastic day, loved being in first class, which they'd never have paid for themselves, and because it was a voucher (from last minute .com) they could choose the day that suited them best. They both love looking at scenery so the slower pace of an old fashioned steam train really suited them.

Bloody hell ladies!!

I felt like the luckiest human being alive when my Dad offered £50 towards the pram!! :rotfl: I turned it down too because I see it as his fault that I was struggling to afford it!

Anyway, I'm over the shock now lol. Have you googled "unusual gift ideas" ?? There are some great websites for looking up special gifts!!

xx

OK Brad has just given me a budget of £300.I said £500 but he said we can't afford that but I might bump it up to £400 with my credit card :shhh:

Can anyone shed some more light now that I have the right budget??

How about a spa day with your mum when you get back from honeymoon? And does your Dad like rugby? Rugby tickets/Racing Tickets are always a good 'un with my dad!

Failing That.... you could always offer them an over-night stay with your gorgeous little boy... free of course!

:rotfl: They would love that, here be glorified babysitters for the night and like it!!!!

I am already doing the spa thing with my mom, sister and friends for my hen do not next weekend bt the one after and it's not really her cup of tea anyway she thinks things like that are only for shallow women with nothing better to do with their time, and my dad hates sport with a passion, even the sort he only has to watch, he's a bit of a nerd and thinks sport is for thugs :wall: :wall: :wall: Do you see now why I am strugling??

I have just realised how awful my parents sound :( I won't try to deny it, they are a pair of snobs thats why it's impossible to buy for them, they are bound to not like what you get anyway!

OMG £25,000!! Are you serious

I think I have just died of shock!

.... ahhhh my MIL is a snob- she's a nightmare.

Chelsea Flower Show? I know it's a long way off though :?
Theatre Trip
Dinner at Claridges/Ivy
Night at The Ritz with 'Tea'

....If you can't think of anything tonight I'll ask my MIL what she would like.... she won't get it but she can tell me anyway! :rotfl: :rotfl:

LOL thanks Jade! Pick her brains!!!

She already goes to the Chealsea Flower Show with her WI pals and the Theatre would really bore my dad but I like the other two ideas!! I just wonder whether they would appreciate London? Anyone know of any exclusive hotels in say the cotswalds for instance? They do like the quieter life!

OK Jade has really got me thinking, I am now looking for hotels in the cotswalds with michelin stars for their food! That should please them both!?

Our parents didn't spend as much but the mums got big bouquets of flowers and my dad got an engraved tankard saying father of the bride and date etc. My sister who was bridesmaid got an engraved wine glass, best man got the same tankard as my dad and the usher got an engraved shot glass xx

My parents paid for our wedding but we didn't buy them anything particular. They didn't expected anything either because they knew we were skint :D

The one thing we did buy was their photo album from the photographer.

my parents only paid about £3000 for my wedding, there is no way i'd let them pay £25000! i hope you've got a gold plated dress and jamie oliver is doing your food for that much money :rotfl: we gave both sets of parents a big flower arrangement and some enggraved wine glasses.

we had a wedding on a budget like Debecca - about £1000 (inc. my dress which was £345...)
my MIL paid for the food. We got her a figurine which she collects. We got our bridesmaids necklaces and the ushers cufflinks.
My mum got a photo frame.
