I've now read in a few places that british lion stamped eggs are OK to eat runny. It seems this research came out in my first pregnancy (must have missed it!). Used to get my fried roll specially hard fried at work on fridays and now.

Just fancy a soft fried egg instead of dry egg and it would probably be good for me to get back into eating them as im veggie!

I just can't really tell if its more saying 'should be ok' or if its really quite safe to do. I go on and off eggs and right now slightly runny eggs would stop me having sugary cereal in the morning!! That said, you would have to still ask and trust in restaurants that they were lion stamped which i don't think id risk.

Lion eggs are from salmonella free chickens. I'd still be careful as if they come into contact with uncooked chicken (during shelf stacking in the fridge etc) the shells can still harbour bugs which can go into the food when the shells are broken. So I would definitely wash the shells before cracking them. Nothing is 100% risk free but that's life!! I have a scar from a papercut through a freak accident that I'm not sure is even replicable lol

Lion eggs are meant to be safe but with all honesty I would't risk it. And I looooooove a runny egg :( x

I have had a couple of poached eggs and a fried egg (cooked and slightly runny but not conpletely). I wouldnt worry. Xx

My midwife told me on Monday that its safe to eat runny eggs as risk of salmonella these days is extremely low. I was so happy to hear this! I had soft boiled eggs and soldiers for breakfast this morning and it was devine!x

Official guidance is that lion stamped eggs are safe to eat soft in pregnancy, my midwife told me this but said it takes an age for the NHS website to be updated! I wouldn't risk it in a restaurant though x

In a ground making movement my midwife also told me that steaks don't actually need to be well done either!

I buy free range british lion eggs and have them runny all the time! I avoid eggs in restaurants and anything that includes soft cheese/eggs in the ingredients I make sure is thoroughly cooked.
But I'd say as long as they're british lion eggs - go nuts! :)

Yes definitely, they're fine to eat runny...

Think about it logically - before you were pregnant, how many times did you have salmonella from runny eggs....?

I think the issue is pregnancy lowers the immune system so whilst you may not of caught it pretty pregnancy you might during pregnancy but still agree pretty low chances. I'm just overly cautious with my history

Nope. Anything with mince does, but steak just need to be seared fully on the outside as that is where the risk is. Hence mince needing to be fully cooked as the outside is minced in.

I had 2 gorgeous poached eggs for lunch after replying to your question earlier!!! They were amazing!!! Lol xxxxx

I'd eat it.

I've eaten steak that isn't fully cooked as well since finding out.

But then I'm of the opinion the risks of anything bad happening will be quite low.

Yes I was just told this on Monday also! Another food I can enjoy, a medium rare steak!x

Best thing for me is knowing that I can eat stilton. Not sure I could cope without it!

Im veggie and try not to even eat dairy or eggs but probably have to really. 16 years ago in my first pregnancy I ate runny eggs and all kind of things and never thought much of it.
My mum got told to drink Guinness with me for iron content! She was about 7 stone and smoked 20 a day, lived off jam on toast and cups of tea when she got pregnant with me.
No wonder im a few sandwiches short of a picnic!

I'm so tempted! there was the tiniest (tiniest) bit of runny yolk on my egg this am and i just ate it anyway.

I'm just one of those super cautious people that avoid things most people do in pregnancy mostly anything that contains questionable or harsh chemicals even if its in everyday stuff. But I try to be realistic... I certainly wont be able to avoid it all.

However... i actually think by eating egg on wholemeal toast in the am (and not a bowl of sugary cereal which i've recently gotten into a terrible habit of due to nausea and wanting to eat fast) I'll probably benefit the baby if anything. That said.. usually takes me ages to get the guts to do something like that for the first time haha.

I are runny eggs both times and will do again when I'm feeling up to it! I'm pretty relaxed about food in pregnancy and eat a lot of things others don't (within reason of course). X
