Any other "geriatrics" out there?! I'm 40 and 7+3 today with first baby. Got married in March and this is long long awaited first try

Very excited but worrying about EVERYTHING and no sign of any interest from the docs until booking in appointment on 2nd Oct. I am relying on Dr Google to keep me calm about the brown/beige spotting I've had - apparently it should be fine, and have had none since Monday (have stopped riding my bike in case it is to do with impact of going over all those potholes :))

Symptoms keep coming and going - today I feel perfectly fine. Other days I have been really down in the dumps and tearful, I guess that's just hormones.

Keep telling myself I'm fit, healthy, barely drink (not at all now!!) so there's nothing else I can do to look after baby any better.

Hi! (Wave)

I fall into the over 35 category with the GP so yes, I guess I begrudgingly fit into this camp ;)

I'm 36, will be 37 by the baby's arrival. This is my fourth baby. I have twins who turned 17 today and I also have an 8 year old boy.

As for the spotting, I had this with my last pregnancy. Turned out to be implantation bleeding.

Hi I beat you both I'm a 42 yr old mum of a 10yr old boy lol I'm 7 weeks tomorrow from last period but only 5 weeks from conception I've already had a scan due to my age and the fact I've had 3 previous miscarriages, there was nothing to see on the scan but I was only 4+4 when I had it so too early I think.
I've had the Hcg blood tests done and am now just awaiting the results of my second test so fingers crossed it's gone up like it should do.
It's a worry time for sure. Xx

Hi Sarah_sun and Bensmum! Good to hear I'm not the only older one, best wishes on your journeys and good luck with your blood results Bensmum :-)

Well, my brown spotting disappeared throughout Tuesday and most of Wednesday until coming back yesterday evening as pinky red. My blood pressure hit the roof and I've been to see the doc this morning! She was absolutely lovely to me as a jibbering wreck (I'm a bit of an over anxious person at the best of times!) She has reassured me that everything I have read online is absolutely true and I will more than likely be fine but has booked me in for a "reassurance" scan tomorrow morning - so....we'll either see a heartbeat or not... Fingers, legs and toes crossed that Brenda the Blueberry will be fine (baby has had a different name each week so far according to size! Poppy the poppy seed, Cecil the sesame seed etc) x

Good luck to you all, im 40 and at the moment ttc baby number 3 (eldest is 20, my youngest is 10) i really hope it doesnt take too long to get caught , we have only given ourselves 6 months! if it doesnt work in that time we are going to call it a day!

Looking forward to reading all your posts!

Ginger19 - sounds like a good plan with the scan. Will hopefully put your mind at rest. I had my scan at 7+0 due to many high risk factors, the main being a previous ruptured ectopic. I was so nervous though there was a little heartbeat blinking at me. I'm sure the same will happen for you x

Bensmum - hi! Good luck with your blood tests. I'm sure all will be well. It was possibly a little too early for the scan? Hopefully we'll all be bounding into tri 2 together x

Jools1975- lots of good luck wishes coming your way. Hopefully you will be joining us soon x

Hi Joolz and welcome to our little gang.

Scan went fine, saw heartbeat and baby measures 8 weeks. I'm banned from running/cycling until spotting stops!

Phew :-)

Hi guys well didn't get the results we wanted really they only went up from 1200 to 1400 which ideally they are supposed to almost double I have had a third blood test today and am still awaiting the results but am not feeling too hopeful to be honest just praying that it's shot up suddenly if not then they'll prob have me in Monday and make a plan so fingers and toes crossed everyone xx

I hope your next bloods are good news Bensmum.

I'm 34 but this is my first and that apparently puts me in the older mum category too according to our fertility clinic, the joy!

Will have everything crossed for you on Monday.

Welcome Snowbee! Nice to have you with us :)

Hi well got my third results and again they'd hardly moved so they had me in today to discuss having the inj that makes you miscarry, I asked if I could have another scan to be sure before I had it well they did the scan and more bloods and although there was still very little to see on the scan ( I'm still only 5+3) my bloods had gone up again so I said I couldn't make a decision on the injection today as I have no bleeding or pain I'd rather wait for nature to take it's course, am I right? I'm not expecting much but want to give it every chance.

Sorry to hear that you still have no definitive answer. I have to say that I do agree with you, I would hold out and double check before I took the injection.

Good luck and keep us updated.

Hugs x

Hi all, another "older" mum to be (hopefully) here. I'm 37 and TTC number 2. I have a beautiful little boy already who is 5. Looking forward to posting more and getting to know you all.
