Mine's just turned up from eBay. Just wondered if anyone has any experience using one and any tips?

Thanks

SPC xx

With mine i start off lying down on a bed, doppler turned off and put the gel on the doppler. Place the doppler along your pubic bone and turn on (if you have it on when you put it on your belly you'll deafen yourself lol)

Start really low, at 12 weeks i think i heard the HB on the pubic bone, tilt at angles, don't worry about pressing a little firmly. If there's no HB in that place, move over a cm but slowly..it may take 2 mins or 20 mins but you'll find it. You'll be surprised at how low down it is! Remember that there's a lot of noises happening in there which may make you think is the HB but it's not. You'll know as soon as you hear it! Its MUCH faster than ours.

Good luck, let us know how you get on. I love mine, its great for reasurrance!

I love it!!! Used it my last pregnancy and it was worth it's weight in gold. Tried it at the beginning of the week and was sure I heard the heartbeat, although tried again today and couldn't find it. I'm not very patient though and didn't try for very long. In my last pregnancy I couldn't get anything till 15 weeks :eh:

anyone ever heard the hb before 12 weeks?

I heard the hb at 13 weeks and it took
about 15mins to find but it's amazing once you find it! Now I don't listen to the hb, I listen to it moving and kicking! So lush!! It'll be the best thing you've brought so far!!

Bet it would be good for your older Kids to hear , and bond with baby, thanks
Might treat myself after a happy 12 week scan X

I heard mine at 11 weeks, took me about 25 minutes I think. It really is amazing and worth the money!

Used it for the first time earlier this evening and after finding my heartbeat several times I eventually found P-Wees heartbeat! It took a while but was well worth the wait! Highly recommend it!

Its a great doppler. I have heard the placenta early at 6 weeks but no HB xxx

Sounds aweomse to be able to hear the hb. *goes off to look at mentioned doppler for future reference*

I have a Hi Bebe doppler and heard the heartbeat at 10 weeks, but then it took me a while to hear it again. It's a bit hit and miss when it's that early. But I love mine, so reasuring!!

I have an Angel Sounds, I find it best to lie down flat!
I found the heartbeat at about 14 weeks had to search around for a while though x

So what does the placenta and the baby moving/kicking sound like with the doppler?

sorry for all the questions, I am really interested in getting one? does it come with a book that tells you how to distinguish between the sounds, or do you just work it out yourself?

Thanks lots

The placenta sounds like swooshing a bit like an ocean on mine :)

Think it comes with a book if it does, I never read it! Lol

They're a really good investment :)

No it doesn't come with a book unfortunately but your placenta sounds like beating but a more swishing sort of beat if you know what I mean? Early on there's probably a lot of gurgling And bubbles as well. As you get further along the babys kicks sound like bangs and thuds! It's amazing to hear.

Thanks vix and yobado - look forward to this

I have just bought one of the Ana Wiz ones and heard babys heartbeat on weds at 10 weeks. It takes some perseverance, sometimes can find it straight away other times takes a while but it is worth it's weight in gold. The placenta sounds a definate swish swish swish sound, although give it half an hour or so after eating or you'll hear all kinds of crazy sounds looking for hb! I find putting it in middle just above pubic bone then moving it really slowly a tiny bit to side usually picks it up x
