Am I too fat to get PG?

I'm 3 stone overweight and am a size 16.

Do you think this excess weight will stop me getting PG?

I don't think so. It can't hurt losing some and seeing what happens but people much heavier than that get pg all the time

I wouldnt have thought so, i know people that are about 20stone and have kids. Cant hurt to lose it though Im about 2 stone over weight

i dont see why as you see loads of big women getting preg me included

at my heavist i weighed 17 .5 stone and me and my OH wernt trying to get preg but not excatly being careful i wasnt on the pill or anything and we didnt use any protection and i didnt get preg for 7 years (started to think there was something wrong) but then i lost 3.5 stone and before i really thought about it i was pregnant (which unfortunatly ended in a m/c). i never put all the weight back on and i fell preg again with Willow.

i think your weight can affect you fertility but not all the time it wouldnt hurt to lose a bit of weight it helped me.

 

Maybe go to your GP and see what he says - I know it can affect fertility. Maybe trying losing some and see what happens

I was a size 16 and around 2.5 stone over weight before I had Ruby...I swam most days and walked a lot so I was pretty fit but I do like my food and wine

It took me 2 years to get PG but I dont know if that had anything to do with my weight....

I know a girl who is very obese and she has 9 children now...she has no problems gtting pregnant!!!

Maybe each time is adding a little to her obesity

Skairdy there's no harm in losing a bit of weight, try not to diet too strictly though as that could also effect you ttc

i think it probably is easier to get pg if ur healthy weight.

i was actually UNDERweight for years (about 6st) and altho not ttc i never took the pill properly and never got pg (thats why i thought it was ok to miss out loads of pills). as soon as i gained a bit of weight i couldnt get away with being careless like that and fell pg.

i think were all more fertile if were not over or under weight. but like others hav said, its still possible to conceive if u are.

im overweight (sz 20ish) and have been making an effort to lose it for over a year now by going swimming two or three times a week, yoga once a week and the gym as often as I could motivate myself. I have not lost more than 1 or 2 kilos at best. The doctors have tested me for thyroid probs but said there is nothing wrong with me so I don't understand why I'm struggling so much to lose weight but after about 10 months of trying, I'm now 9 weeks gone.

no i don't think you are that over weight that it would affect your fertility that much. A size 16 is average isn't it
of course it would hurt to lose a few puonds and see if you feel better about yourself etc.

I'm a size 18 and get pregnant without even trying. My freinds been trying for a baby for about 6 years without any luck and they won't start her IVF till she loses some weight. Makes me feel very guilty. I know another girl whos been trying for 4 years and then she went on a diet and stopped drinking and smoking and got pg the month after. It wouldn't hurt to loose a few lbs while trying though would it. I found it so much harder being over weight and pregnant than I did when was slim.
