Hi

Looking for your thoughts on our shortlisted boys names. We wanted a name that was not common but not too out there. Our favorite name was always Jax (possibly Jaxon for a "proper" name) but everyone seems to hate this which is rude!! That brought us round to more traditional names and we have a Scottish surname that goes with most names so it's nice to have a Scottish first name too I suppose.

Baby's middle name has to be Graham :)shock:) as it's my husband's fathers name and his family have a tradition of doing that so I can't change this. I am an only child so felt compelled to have Alexander as a middle name after my grandpa but I'm not sure I want two middle names which brought us to Alexander as a first name.

Choice 1: Alexander - nice Scottish name and honors my Grandpa but is in the top 10 names which goes against what we were looking for. Goes nicely with our middle and surname (which is Gordon)

Choice 2: Lennox - another nice Scottish name but is not common and slightly unusual. Can call him "Knox" as a shortened name to keep the unusualness that we would have more with Jax. Goes with middle and surnames.

Choice 3: Just stick with Jaxon although it doesn't go that nicely with Gordon (I don't like the two "on" sounds. Always wanted to use "Jax" alone but that's causing too much controversy!

Following said controversy we're not telling anyone what our choice will be. DH is quite set on Alexander just now x

I think Alexander goes nicely with the Middle and surname, I think it is also a lovely tribute to your Grandpa (and probably the rest of your family), and I have always thought that as long as you like the name, it really doesn't matter how popular it is. I also think that it is a nice name for all age groups! Xx

I prefer traditional names so Alexander gets my vote.

When it comes to names though, the only persons opinion I'm bothered about is OH. I'm not fussed if anyone else doesn't like our choices and wouldn't let them change my mind. Why is Jax a problem for so many people?x

Alexander would be my choice but I am biased; it used to be my top boys name and now I am married to an Alexander, so I am very fond of it. I wouldn't say it's that common, despite being on the popular list, but the others you've shortlisted are definitely more unusual xx

I vote for Alexander! But not becuase i love it so much...i just do not like other 2 names at all))

I voted Lennox - haven't heard it before and thought it was a really cool name! My next pick would have been Jaxon - we had Jackson on our list, so that's similar :) I really like it.
Alexander is a lovely name too, though I prefer the other names as they are more unusual :)) I'd use it as a second middle name maybe :)

I think Alexander Graham sounds too much like Alexander Graham Bell for me. What about Graham Alexander Gordon instead?
I do love Alexander though - it's my LO's name xx

Lennox and Jaxon are very popular names locally to me and Ichose Alexander as the middle name for my last son so Ivoted Alexander xx

Thanks for your thoughts ladies! I suspect he'll probably end up Alexander although I do find it hard to let go of the idea of him having a bit more of an unusual name! I suggested to DH we could call him Xander for short to make it a bit more unusual but DH likes Alex.

Haha I think that too although DH loves that it sounds similar but I have no doubt he'd get that a lot! I don't really like Gaham as a middle name either but don't have any choice. It's a shame as all the other family names that have carried on are nice names and I love my husbands name so if our son has a boy at any point he'll have DH's name as a middle name and he's lucky as he's getting a nice one lol x

I'd say Alexander. It's a great name for a boy I think xx

Another vote for Alexander here. Its a strong, traditional name that can also be shortened and I like the shortened version too.

X

Already said this on the June thread to you - love Lennox and Alexander :)!

Good luck tho, sounds like your OH is as tricky as mine hehe!

My vote is for Alexander as well I think...Lennox would be second choice for me.

You could always shorten Alexander to Xander rather than Alex if you wanted him to have a more unusual name?

I like Alexander - I also love the nicknames Xander or Lex xxx

Thanks everyone! DH wrote my valentines card to me and Alex  so I guess it's kind of stuck!! x

Our DS is called Alex but Alexander is his registered name. I some time call him Zander or zands but only at home its his nickname with me and dh hates it but I don't care! I ended up going back through names of boys in school with me as I couldn't decide on a name I have no.2 name ready when we conceive and when we find out gender
