i know u mite read this and just think im lucky and that is what my midwife said but i cant help but worry. Zak was going about 3 hours between feeds but the last couple of days he has been going for about 4 - 4 and a half hours. During the night last night he had a feed at 11 then a little bit about half 3ish and then nothing until 8 this morning. He seems to be feeding well altho a little fussy to get on at first for about 10 mins but once he is latched on he is feeding continuously for about 10 - 15 mins then comes off on his own and seems content and then sleeps. I know this sounds like hes doing well but I cant help but worry that he isnt getting enough... altho he would be upset wouldnt he if he was hungry ??? ... oh i dont no.... do you think im worrying over nothing or would you feel the same ? x

p.s sorry for the rant... iv got brand new first time mum syndrome.

I have no idea about breast feeding as I have bottle feed but herbie only eva had a bottle about 3am since the day he came home so he just sounds really good.
herbie was going every 4 hours in the day for the first few wks then as he got bigger he went to every 3 hours but keeped the same in the night.
I really think if he was hungry he would let you know.
Are they happy with his weight?

Hey hun alex has always gone ages between feeds 3-5 hours sometimes now he seems to be going more often i asked ifwife who said its ok but if i want a patttern to wake him during day and leave him at night to feed on demand we havee pretty much left him to feed on demaand and he has been gaining weight fine x hope everything else is going well x

thanks girls. he was born at 9lb 4, went down to 8lb9 at day 3 and by day 7 he was back to 9lb 1. which the midwife was more than happy with. Il just go with what he wants and see what happens. x

I'm just feeding on demand - I reckon that's got to be the best thing at the moment. Midwife coming in tomorrow so will see if she is putting on weight.

I feel the same as you lucy, I know I should count my blessings that she's not trying to feed every hour but it's just as worrying the other way round! And Lizzie only feeds for about 5 minutes till she's asleep again! She is getting weighed Tues so will see how she's progressing, if she's doing ok weight-wise then I can hopefully relax and enjoy the long breaks!

Although my boobs don't like the gaps too much, they wanna be emptied far more regularly!

i know how u feel hun, Jax was going 3-4hours overnight the first 2 nights then i was told i had to wake him up every 2 hours to feed because he was so small, 5lb 7oz at 40 weeks, on day 2 he had dropped to about 5lb 4oz but by day 5 was 5lb 8oz, he started going a little longer again between feeds actually not wanting to be fed every 2 hours at about 6 days since then I get anything between 3 and 5 hours overnight (but not until after 4am) he still piling on the weight though this week he went from 6lb 5oz to 7lb and the health visitor is really pleased. So as far as I'm aware as long as he is still gaining weight he can go as long as he wants lol

Alex dropped from 8lb 2 oz to 7lb 2 oz on day 5 but by day 8 he was bk to 8lb think its al to do with milk coming in. Sorry day 4 was wjen he dropped and that was when milk finally cme in too x
